Hi ☀️
I saw a questionable Coach #9927 today.
Until now, I have not seen “R” plant bag in person. (Does “R” plant really exist??)

Seller:bur-1617
Creed looks like G0R-9927

Hi authenticators! Will you please take a look at this bag? Thank you!
Item: Vintage Coach NYC Red City Compartment Bag Leather-Made In USA
Seller: lunagene
Site where listed: Poshmark

It's authentic. I think the seller is optimistic in the measurements. It's a compartment bag #9850. City was never part of the name. It is smaller than a city bag; Coach's measurements are 9 1/2 x 6 x 2 1/4 inches.

Thank you
There was an R plant for Thailand. It was in use at the time this bag was supposedly made in the US. In my opinion, this bag is fake.

R plant codes with US creeds can be assumed to be fake although some of them are very close fakes and a few are "questionable". Always look for other problems with the bag and authenticate here BEFORE buying or committing. If it's deemed Questionable, DON'T BUY. Sometimes it's something that seems small like this one where the "a" in the Coach logo is too thick, or the letter "s" in the creed isn't stamped clearly:

1996_R-plant-FAKE_J6R-5266-Beekman-turnlock_padding-LG-a1.jpg

and another fake with the same problems:

The R plant codes are usually OK when used between about 1999 and 2001 but ONLY for a plant in Thailand. In addition to the R plant in your example being used in a different plant in 2000 as @whateve already pointed out, the font used in the Coach logo is too thin, and the stamping is so bad that even if you know exactly what the creed should say, it's STILL unreadable:

2000_R-plant_FAKE-a.jpg

ETA - And one final word about the seller - not only does she not research her items and never learned to read Coach serial number codes, but the "1970's" bag shows a (fake) 2000 date code. And the Willis wasn't even introduced until 1993.

Don't ever expect sellers to always get the details right, even with fakes.

Thank you for the reference @Hyacinth !!
I love learning new things here

It's genuine.

And I can see the vertical line in that "e", the 3 horizontal bars are a bit faint but they're definitely there.

There's supposed to be a buckled strap around the top of the bag that's apparently missing according to Coach's photos and other listings including several on Ebay. The bag isn't complete. The photos in the Ebay listing show the details.

The seller, bur-1617 has relisted the same fake after it was removed.
