IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Ugh! Neither bag can be authenticated as listed.

For bag #1, the "Coach Gray Leather Purse," it can't be authenticated without a picture of the small white label that should be buried inside the bag somewhere. It would be either sewn into the side seam near the made in label or hidden in the bottom left of the zipper pocket. (They might have to turn the pocket inside out to photograph it.)

For bag #2, the "COA" is useless because a supposed "sample" bag with either 99999 or 00000 style numbers cannot be confirmed as authentic. (Some obvious fakes CAN be judged but authenticity can NEVER be proven as genuine.) The COA proves nothing in this case.

Personally, I would never buy a sample unless it was a bag I plan to keep forever. (I sell bags when I tire of them and with a bag that can't be proven genuine, it's disallowed that it be resold.)
Dang it, I will pass on them both then. I was hopeful for the Mercer, it was so pretty. Thank you so very much for the information, that's the first sample bag I've seen.

I never wanted to pay the prices for a vintage Ergo. This one certainly caught my eye. Not shipped, so still cancellable if not good.

Seller: rakuhashi
Item #: 404332541680

Thanks, again.

As long as you receive the bag with the creed shown in the picture, it's fine.

The Stewardess bag is authentic and was made in 2002.

Hi it's my first time here in this forum requesting authentication. I purchased this purse in Mercari and found that it has Solid Brass engraved on the buckles. Is this a sign of being fake? Also I saw that it has the YKK zipper..I'm confused. The picture of the solid brass buckle and ykk zip were taken by me the others are from seller.
Thank you in advance. https://merc.li/XQnYp6DQb?sv=0

Sorry, it's fake.

First of all a zipper marked YKK doesn't prove ANYTHING. Read my Signature in purple under every single one of my posts, and whatever source you're using for authentication "information", STOP using it because that YKK nonsense was proven to be a lie almost 20 years ago. No one single detail can EVER prove that any Coach is authentic, especially not something available on the open market to anyone who wants one, or a thousand.

The Salearea Guides posted and Pinned in this thread is what you need to read and Save. The information in them is as accurate as I can make it, and I've been doing it for at least 12 years. Read the entire thread including the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List and Save it for future reference:

The SOLID BRASS stamp is a big problem in this case and with a bag that claims to have been made in the USA in 1999. Some very old vintage styles can have genuine Solid Brass stamps but this isn't one of them. The X plant code is also invalid for the year and country of manufacture, and the turnlock has a detail that's also usually found in fakes. If you already bought it, get your money back from the Mercari seller. And have potential "Coach" purchases authenticated here BEFORE you buy or commit to buying. There's an entire section of my Salearea Guides just about the "YKK zipper myth".

Remember to include seller ID from listings that were (or are) online listings.

seller emmiee_rai_smiliees

Refer the seller here is she doesn't agree to a FULL refund! It doesn't matter how inexpensive or how pricey an item is. Counterfeit items are illegal and it should never have been listed or sold.

Hello! This is not a purse but I am trying to find a replacement hang tag for my red station bag that I have bought missing a tag. I saw this listing on Mercari and paused because the borders do not look as distinct as my other vintage coach hangtags in comparison. I am not sure how difficult it is to authentic hang tags but I thought I'd reach out and give it a try. Thank you!!!

Item: Coach Vintage Leatherwear Hangtag red Burgundy
Listing number: N/A
Seller and site where listed: Mercari, JannaJ

Some hangtags are easy to authenticate but others are harder.
This red one is more difficult and personally, I don't like it. I don't know for sure whether it's fake or not but I'm not comfortable recommending it, especially at that price! (I know we generally don't discuss price since it's so subjective but IMO, $28 is a LOT!)

ETA: Again, I don't know whether the red hangtag is genuine or not but JannaJ sells a lot of hangtags, most appearing genuine, but she's sold some fakes:
and this is fake:
