Some hangtags are easy to authenticate but others are harder.
This red one is more difficult and personally, I don't like it. I don't know for sure whether it's fake or not but I'm not comfortable recommending it, especially at that price! (I know we generally don't discuss price since it's so subjective but IMO, $28 is a LOT!)

Okay thank you for your verification! I usually purchase bags that come with a hang tag already, but a red station in decent condition and at a reasonable price popped up and I snagged. Although it seems procuring a hang tag for it will be more difficult than I realized. Are there any places recommended for finding hang tags in general, or should I keep watching online platforms? Thank you for any input :)

Hi
I just saw this bag 5 min ago.
This doesn’t have a serial number…Is that possible not to have any serial number?

Thank you

I don't believe that bag is authentic.

Please wait for other opinions.

Thank you @BeenBurned !
Is this supposed to be #9930?
I feel the same, don’t believe it’s authentic but wanted to hear expert’s opinions ❤️ I am not trying to buy, just very curious Thank you for your time ❤️
It looks like it's trying to be a Murphy bag but the Murphy doesn't have 2 back pockets nor does it have a long tab for the front closure.

There seems to be other problems also.

I have bought many a bag sans hangtag , have thought of buying a single...but for ne here in New Zealand they usually cost me about NZ$28 + NZ$25- 50 shipping +15% tax...its just not worth it for me for a tiny piece of leather.

I agree, it's a complete fake, and a bad one.

Even from the few photos posted and in addition to what BeenBurned has already mentioned,, the strap was NOT made by Coach, there are problems with punctuation, the details of the turnlock tab are not correct and neither is the turnlock, and a bag that size should have a serial number. The color(s) of the inside pocket isn't even close to matching the color of the other leather. There's also another serious discrepancy with the creed itself. It's a very bad and possibly a fairly recent fake.

ETA - It may even be a Frankenstein bag, the creed pocket panel, which may also be from another fake, is showing much more wear than the rest of the bag which looks like it's hardly ever been used. The ONLY usage mark I can see on the outside of the bag is what looks like a fingernail scratch on the lower part of the turnlock tab.

Good morning! I purchased this bag from a local thrift store, and I was hoping someone could authenticate it for me please. The body of the purse measures 8 1/2” by 7 1/2”, and the drop is 23” (adjustable). Thank you very much for your help!!

omg Frankenstein bag…!
Thank you @Hyacinth for your time and expertise. Now the fake is gone (yay!), hopefully the seller wouldn’t list this bag on Mercari or other places!

When I don't have the matching leather hangtag for my vintage bags, I use a brass hangtag. This should match the hardware and look good as well. This is a link to the last brass tags that I purchased. The seller appears to be sold out, but it can give you an idea of what to look for.

Remember to include seller ID from listings that were (or are) online listings.

seller emmiee_rai_smiliees

Refer the seller here is she doesn't agree to a FULL refund! It doesn't matter how inexpensive or how pricey an item is. Counterfeit items are illegal and it should never have been listed or sold.
Thank you so much for your response. I did contact Mercari for refund and return but since I had released payment to seller, the sale was final. I will just take this as a lesson and learn from this experience. Once again Thank you so much for your response.
