This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:

    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:

    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

JUST A SUGGESTION - The main Coach thread is getting a lot of authentication requests especially from new members. We really need to refer them to this thread and point them to Post number One or it's going to keep happening more and more.

Hi, bought this in a thrift store the other day. Think it might be a Soho belted pouch. The bag is 9 inches deep and something like 10 and 3/4 across when unbelted. The strap is long -- about 3 and a half feet when buckled on the last notch. I heard on another thread that these were often faked.

It seems ok but wait for more opinions.

#1 looks authentic. It is in pretty bad shape. It is dunkable but I doubt you'll get it perfect. It depends on how much patina you are okay with. It is huge, so harder to bathe and shape.

#2 might be okay. I can't read the creed. I've dunked this style with great results.

#3 has some authenticity problems. I would stay away.

#4 is fake. This style is faked often. If you can find an authentic one, the leather is wonderful.

Hi whateve, just out of curiosity, what are the authenticity problems of #3 and what clues one in that #4 is fake? Thanks in advance for your sage words.

I agree it looks authentic. Counterfeiters usually don't get that H plant quirk right.

One thing you can do is compare a fake bag to authentic bags with the same style number. #3 is supposed to be a Murphy bag #9930. Even though you can't really see the creed clearly, you can see the underline under "No." is too long, and the font and the amount of space the numbers take up is wrong for the "C" plant. The biggest telling factor on any bag that has padding above the turnlock is the shape of that padding. Compare it to an authentic Willis or another Murphy bag and you'll see what I mean. Then look at the bottom of other Murphy bags and you'll see this one has a bottom seam and they don't. The seller has another fake Murphy listed too, with similar problems. http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Vinta...364?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d3575d48c

On #4, the first clue is that the grommets are silver while the rest of the hardware is brass. The drawstrings are unfinished on the edges. If you look at an authentic bag, you can see that the edges were turned under and sewn, so there should not be any raw edges. The font of the creed number is completely wrong. The creed is stamped on the pocket rather than above the pocket.

Wow, that's thorough. Thanks for the education!

I think it is probably okay. I don't see any areas of concern, but I can't read the creed number so I can't say for certain.

Thanks so much whateve!

The seller sent a couple an picture-let me know if this is helpful:

I still have no idea what the first two digits are. The second doesn't look like a number at all. I am pretty sure it is authentic anyway.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach bag?
From GW...
Approx. 10.5"w x 7"h x 3"d. Strap 10" to rings.
According to the wayback it should be a 2006 Chelsea Field Bag #8A41, yes?
Thanks in advance!
