Could someone help to authenticate this Coach Convertible Crossbody/Wristlet
It is in a consignment store. I love the color, but red flags are going up as to the authenticity. I have never seen anything like it. The 'Creed' seems a little off center and the interior fabric seems cheaper than what I have seen Coach use.

Item Name: Coach deep purple convertible wristlet/crossbody.
Link: See images

Thank you-
It's fake and in case the consignment store isn't aware, they aren't allowed to sell fakes even if they claim not to know whether authentic.

Hi~
Can I get your opinions on this Metropolitan Briefcase in my possession...I know this is a heavily faked style.
Thank you so much!

Thank you!

#1 looks authentic. It is in pretty bad shape. It is dunkable but I doubt you'll get it perfect. It depends on how much patina you are okay with. It is huge, so harder to bathe and shape.

#2 might be okay. I can't read the creed. I've dunked this style with great results.

#3 has some authenticity problems. I would stay away.

#4 is fake. This style is faked often. If you can find an authentic one, the leather is wonderful.

Hello!

Your thoughts and opinions are always appreciated. TIA for the help.

Item: Station Bag [Seller lists it as: Coach Willis Crossbody (Authentic-Vintage-USA)]

Seller: amb-12

Comments: I'd love to have a purple bag in a glove-tanned leather, but, my gut feelings say counterfeit. The color and 1212 in the serial code concern me. Was Coach doing a violet color in the late 80s-early 90s? Or is this Blue that has been photoshopped?

The creed looks good. As far as I know, Coach didn't make any classics in interesting colors like this, except for the federal blue around 2005. They did make a deep plum purple in some other styles around the same time, but it was darker and not as blue as this. I think that someone did a very professional dye job on this. It is interesting that it looks two-tone just like early Coach bags often did because different pieces of leather accepted the dye differently.

ETA: the seller got a recent neutral for painting a golf club.

Thanks Whateve! Something is "not quite right" with this one and the seller's misinformed about the bag. So, its a no go. The color is really good; can't think of what color the bag could've been that would let it be treated to accept a dye this vibrant. Makes me wonder if it came from one of those MTO outfits that were going on back then?

Coach DID make a true Purple shade for the Holiday 1993 catalog that was used on Station Bags and a few other very small styles, but the color in this seller's photos isn't even close to Coach's actual shade. I had one for a short time and the color was definitely in the reddish-purple range, not bluish or violet at all. It was very close to this catalog pic of the Everett bag from the Holiday 1993 book.

The close-up of the lower right corner really shows the dye job.

That's the color I was thinking of. The Becket zip came in it. It was a very dark purple.

Thank you Hyacinth! I remember that color and that catalog. I was in 10th grade and cut pictures out of it and glued them onto my Christmas list. I wanted a Bottle Green Duffle Sac and a trigger snap key fob. Of course, I didn't get them.

(Confession: I update my spreadsheet whenever you post pics from old catalogs. I feel so guilty.)

I just realized that the last two fakes were listed by the same seller. In looking are her other listings, I'm seeing many questionable listings. The seller, powife4him, should be avoided.
