Seller and site where listed
Link: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/679923940191043/?mibextid=6ojiHh

Comments: any help with this pls?
Seller gave me the creed: A2P 9844
Pictures are from listing

Please ask the seller for a better picture of the creed. I can't read it at all.

She gave me the number A2P 9844

But I asked to

does that help? Thanks for your help!
The bag is probably okay but sellers need to understand that just because a bag has a serial number that seems to match the style doesn't mean that the bag it's on is genuine. Counterfeiters can (and DO) make fakes that "match" the style of bag they're copying.

Although some bags have inner lining that is attached making creeds difficult to photograph, this bag has a lining can be pulled out to get a picture of.

Sellers and buyers need to understand that it takes more than just knowing what the serial number is that determines authenticity. The lining, creed text and font have to be correct for when and where the bag was made as well as the style of the bag.

The following pictures show just one example of why we need to see pictures because a "valid" serial number doesn't mean it's authentic. Bag on left is fake, bag on right is genuine. Both have identical serial numbers:

Makes sense! I’ve been reading the blogs and have been trying to learn more about older Coach bags. I understand what you’re saying completely.
I was hoping to get some info on this bag ie; style name, Year etc to do some more research, before I meet the seller to check the bag out in person.
I’ve asked them for a picture of the creed, which I’ll post as soon as it comes in.

Thanks again for all your help!

You are correct. It's fake.

In fact, the serial number is pretty common and is one listed on @Hyacinth's list.

Dear authenticators please look at this....thanks in advance

Comments: Apart from the "artwork" this certainly is no style 9790, and of course there is no visible creed. Can it be removed solely on the basis that the bag is not advertised with a correct number ?

No. We've seen plenty of genuine vintage Coaches with incorrect style numbers. We've also seen sellers use Ebay shortcuts that allow them to copy and use the description from a "similar" item in Ebay's photo library, just in case you didn't know that option existed and was perfectly OK with Ebay.

If we reported every Coach listing with the wrong style number or item name in the listing, there wouldn't be anything left. Unless the seller's photos actually prove that the item is NOT a genuine Coach and you can explain why to the doofuses at Ebay, you shouldn't report it.

JMO - anyone who would buy that believing it's a real Coach without doing any BASIC research and thinks that the "artwork" adds to the bag's value or charm as a "Coach" DESERVES to get stuck with a fake.

I have to wonder whether the lack of a creed picture is intentional and meant to mislead.

There's no way to authenticate that bag as listed and in fact, no way to know if it's even Coach or pretending to be Coach. A creed photo is absolutely necessary.

Thanks ladies for your time and expertise.
@Hyacinth, since I have never sold anything, no, I did not know that there even was an ebay library to swipe stuff from :( - many thanks for that info :)
@BeenBurned, I did not know if this was one of the bags where the numbers were sewed into the seams (mid 2010's), as there seems to be "artwork" where the creed is supposed to be, but that would not jive with the C9B designation.
Lol, anyway, I think this is a terrible abuse of leather :), even worse than the Halloween purse.
