Hello, authenticators!
I recently pulled this bag out from my moms closet that she thrifted years ago. I went to wash it and give it a new life but the moment I was washing it (the gentle and right way to clean a coach bag), the leather started to rip like wet paper. Now I don’t know if that happened cause it was “old” But I washed many vintage coach bags and this never happened to me. I just would like to know before I toss it if this is authentic or not. (In the pics the bag is wet) Thank you!

I've never seen a bag do that!

It is an authentic signature demi made in 2001. I have no clue whether it's repairable.

Hi ladies, please may I have this bag authenticated. Thank you

Comments: what concerns me is there are no grommets on the strap View attachment 5678835View attachment 5678834

We NEVER base authentications on parts that can easily be changed or replaced like straps.

This may be a smaller version of the Courier pouch that didn't appear in the early catalogs so we don't even know if the strap had grommets. The bag is genuine, the seller's measurements seem a bit "off".

Thanks Hyacinth for your expertise. Reassuring to bid with confidence.

I'm not a rehabber so wait for @whateve to take a look, but it could be that the leather or maybe the thread just disintegrated over the years. I don't think it's repairable, and there's no way to know if some kind of cleaner or conditioner may have been used that shouldn't have been. Coach leather should never do that under normal use. It seems to me that trying to repair it without knowing what caused the damage in the first place isn't a good idea.

Full disclosure: I've already 'pulled the trigger' on these two because I really want them and want them to be real. :-) But, if they're not, I have no problem sending them back and insisting on a refund since they're claiming they are authentic. Both from GoodwillFinds.com. Thank you for your opinion!

I'm happy to copy and paste pictures if the links give you any trouble! Many thanks!

Both are authentic but I have a comment about your statement of, "I have no problem sending them back and insisting on a refund since they're claiming they are authentic."

You should NEVER have a problem filing a dispute and demanding a return and refund for a fake no matter what a seller claims. It's illegal to sell fakes PERIOD so if the seller admits an item is fake, it was illegal for them to have sold it in the first place and can be returned.

Bottom line: Never hesitate to return a fake.

You are right! Thanks for the advice and for the authentication.
