Hi! There i was on ebay looking for something unrelated but this popped up and caught my eye. I do not know first thing about NEW Coach, looks like an adorable bag. Is it genuine? What line is it from? Thanks in advance for all the info.

It's a Poppy whipstitch crossbody from 2011. I think it is vachetta leather. That color transfer on the back is likely permanent. I don't see any problems but I don't own one. I've never seen Coach on the back of a snap like that. More opinions are welcome.

Thank you! The stamped back of the snap is what startled me, looks strange, an overstatement of sorts :)

It looks good to me too.

Yeah, they put their name on the back of some snaps on some items.

ETA: It's style number 47089 and here's a Coach review.

ikr? Thanks again. :D
You're welcome.

You're welcome.
Thank you for the reference! Nice, it is such a gorgeous bag...too bad the dirty back side, probably does not have the quality of older Coach leather to get it cleaned up.
I think the leather is pretty nice but being vachetta, you can't rehab it the same way. Water will darken it. I've had good luck using vinegar and a magic eraser on vachetta. Even if it was Coach's original glove-tanned leather, the color transfer would be a problem. I doubt you could ever get it looking new.

This Bleecker Satchel looks okay to me except the threading in one of the images. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance. :D

It looks ok to me. Considering how many layers of leather some handbag stitching has to go through, I don't worry about the occasional bobble.

Sloppy, uneven or just plain BAD stitching is another matter

Most true vintage bags (20 years old or older) came with longer straps, because that was still the classic style 20-plus years ago. Coach sometimes made 2 different lengths available for some vintage styles, 36 or 40-44 inches, but you need to read the descriptions carefully to see what strap length the bag you're looking at actually has. Starting around 1990 Coach started making more bags available with shorter straps, but if you want what I call an "armpit bag" - I'm NOT a fan of that length! - and want it to be all original and vintage, you're going to have a hard time. You may have to buy a bag in an easy to match color like black and buy a short replacement strap from a seller like Silver-Coach at Ebay and Bonanza, or from Mautto on their website. A new replacement strap can run $20-$30 so factor that into your budget. And be sure to measure the width and pay attention to the fastening and hardware color - both of the sellers I mentioned will usually be able to tell you if the strap you're considering will fit the bag you're buying it for.

And when strap lengths got shorter, way too many Coach owners shortened their straps themselves, and, like whoever owned bag #1, made a really LOUSY job of it, although that's probably the WORST I've ever seen. It almost looks as if a dog or cat chewed right through it and the owner just left it like that except for a half-dozen stitches on the end. I can't stress too strongly how important it is to examine all listing photos very closely, preferably with a full-feature computer where you can enlarge and examine the photos. If one of the authenticators here notices a modified strap we'll mention it in our comments, but we can't catch them all.

I'm adding a close-up of the end of the strap of Bag #1 so you can see how important it is to look at the photos and description very carefully.
Thank you for all the information, Hyacinth. It's definitely helpful and I really appreciate it.:smile1:
