I've had this for a few months, finally getting around to rehabbing. Looks good to me, but expert eyes appreciated! Googling tells me it's a scout bag, style #9890. Please and thank you for an authentication opinion. (It just came out of the bath, it's really a beautiful bag.)

Authentic.

It's a genuine City Bag but it's not considered "vintage" unless it's 20 years old or older. This one was made in 2007 so it has 5 years to go before it's technically vintage.
Hi, dear Hyacinth. I was shocked a little bit. I thought creed number is like No. month - year -place 4 digits number . Maybe this is not vintage. Thank you so much. I need to educate myself a lot.

One more if I may, sorry to take up so much of your time , but I'm truly grateful for the service you ladies provide.

Comments: This seller seems to have a mixed reputation on tPF. Also don't quite know what to make of the stains.
Not an authenticator, but did you also notice what appears to be broken stitching in the 8th photo? A lined bag could make broken stitching a challenge to fix or have fixed. But take a look as I could be imagining something that isn't there.

The bag is authentic but I'm not a rehabber and don't know whether the stains will come out or if the side of the bag is repairable.

The link to the six Salearea Guides is posted and Pinned to the top of each page in this thread, and the various formats of Coach serial numbers over the years with the exception of the most recent 2 years are covered in detail. Year codes were changed from one number to 2 numbers in 2004. I strongly suggest reading them more than once since Coach made frequent changes and it's not easy to keep all the details straight with just one reading. I even do a read-through every few months, and I researched and wrote the bloody thing, along with the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List that follows the Salearea Guides in the same thread.

I'm not a rehabber but those stains look like they've been there a while, maybe from rubbing against something ink-y? I have a gut feeling that trying to get those stains out may take some of the color with it. Without knowing exactly what caused the stains, trying to remove them can just cause more problems. JMO.

ETA - I DID try to get some dark marks out of a light-color Sonoma back in my early collecting days and it didn't end well, so maybe I'm a bit over-cautious. That pebbled leather can get damaged more easily than the regular smooth leathers.

The seller seems to sell a lot of "project" bags as well as some fakes. They may not be as careful buying pre-owned bags to re-sell as they should be.

Another opinion: I think the stains aren't just on top of the leather - they have damaged the texture, like a burn or a chemical burn.

I have a bag here if anyone's willing to check this out. Thank you so much!

Comments: Mentioned that it's authentic and brought from the US though I don't know what's the model called (can someone help identify?). Also one thing to note is that seller claims there was a care card but unfortunately the bag was accidentally washed with it inside, which destroyed the care card
