After you'd posted last week about the Jean Michel Basquiat bag, I did a search and found one (that I can no longer locate) that was for a Basquiat bag with a creed describing the artwork of Keith Haring!

There are just so many fakes, especially from Japanese sellers, of the "themed collaboration" items. And because Japan used to have a good reputation as being a "safe" country from which to buy authentic items, the trickle-down is that many US buyers and resellers purchased from them to resell here.

Be VERY careful of when buying Disney, Peanuts, Nasa, Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, Rogues, Swaggers, Tea Rose and just about any other highly faked Coach items, especially from sellers in Japan.

ETA: I found the Basquiat item with the Haring creed. (But to the untrained eye, this is really easy to miss!)

Thank you so much! I’ve learned so much in a couple of days from you guys! I’m done buying on eBay for now. I appreciate your time!

Please DON'T report items to Ebay as fake unless you're absolutely sure and have actually verified they're fake in this thread!

That is NOT what we encourage here. Filing false reports is against everything tPF stands for.

She's definitely a member one of the many "gangs" or multiple-ID Japanese sellers who often falsify their locations and share photos among them, but actually selling fakes must be proven because it's illegal as well as a violation of Ebay Rules. That's why we've been warning members for years against buying from sellers who are or who may be located in Japan especially when the same photos are being used by multiple sellers, including this one. We also discourage buying from sellers located in the Philippines because of the high percentage of fakes.

Here's an example - your seller " cynodo-93 " has this listing for a "Karlee Crossbody " with Snoopy. A Search of Ebay for that style number 4114 in both Current and Completed brings up more than a dozen listings, many of them from sellers in Japan or who MAY be in Japan but are showing false locations in the US, and many of them using the same photos, including at least one other with the same exact "white glove" photo of the creed patch. Notice that most of these "gang" photos don't even show a close-up of the creed. CHECK OTHER LISTINGS AND LOOK FOR THE SAME PHOTOS.

Completed:

And don't ever buy a "Coach" bag if the seller doesn't show a clear readable and enlargeable photo of the creed patch and serial number if the bag is supposed to have one.

Duly noted. Thank you for your time

Looks good.
Thank you so much
The bag measures approximately 10” wide, 6.5” tall and 2.75” deep. It looks like the bag in this stock picture that I found on pinterest
It's authentic. To ID bags with all numeric serial numbers, we need measurements. This is probably a camera bag #9760, most likely made in the 1980s.
Than you!
The bag measures approximately 10” wide, 6.5” tall and 2.75” deep. I believe it's the same as the bag I saw on this picture I found online

Those measurements match the camera bag I thought it was.

Item: Vintage Whitney Crossbody (Probably fake?)

Where purchased or how obtained:
Picked up at a thrift store in Chicago Sunday

Comments: Okay, one more from this newbie today. This is the one I am, like, 93% sure is fake but I want to be sure before I post it (transparently) in my Buy Nothing group. I can't fully read the serial number but I *think* it says 012-4554 — which a few people online have said is fake but there's so much contradictory info out there. Honestly, if it weren't for the cheap-looking black zipper on the inner pouch and the fact that the strap is drying a little differently than the rest of the bag, I don't know that I even would have questioned it or tried to bump up the contrast to see the serial number. BUT the inner zipper and pull are very similar to the inner pocket zipper of a 2004 bullseye stamped Willis I have, so I'm questioning myself here.

NOTE: This bag looks darker than it usually is because it was about 18 hours post-bath when I took these pictures.

Thank you!!

It's fake. (The always invalid serial number is 012-3445 and is one commonly seen on fakes.)

Personally, I'll speak for myself but others probably feel similarly. As someone who is passionate against the sale and circulation of fakes, I'd prefer that it not be posted on any "Buy Nothing group" because eventually, someone will end up with a bag they think is genuine, may try to sell it and will risk their reputation and ebay (or other online) account.

Since you purchased it and presumably paid for it, my recommendation would be to go back to the store, let them know that despite what they may believe about the sale of fakes, the fact is that it was illegal for them to sell it to you and demand either a refund or credit toward something else.

JMHO.

The number is actually 012-3445 which is a known and always fake number, the font used in stamping the number is also much too thick. Here's the post from the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List:

The creed has the usual spelling mistake "scrtches" common with that fake number, the inside pocket zipper isn't long enough, the round metal pull on the top zipper is a known and always fake style when it's on a vintage bag AND the top zipper is a very cheap substitute for a high-quality zipper like Coach used, the strap is a cheap replacement and doesn't match the bag, and the hangtag is the wrong shape. Those are just the obvious problems. But the known fake serial number and creed misspellings (there may be one other misspelling but the creed is too worn down to see it) are the real and indisputable proofs of a fake "Coach".

The inclusion of fake serial number 012-3445 on the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers list goes back to at least 2007, as evidenced in this old post here at tPF:

Insist on a full refund.

Thank you! I was in Chicago for the weekend (a weekend that turned me into a vintage Coach hunter) and I live in Kansas City so I won't be going back to the thrift store where I bought it any time soon. It wasn't marketed as a Coach; I just pulled it from a rack of many, many, many bags that probably came in with a huge pile of donations and I was just going in with no knowledge of how to spot a fake (now I know!). Maybe I'll do something to "damage" the label to make it clear it's not authentic before I pass it on. Thanks!

It's illegal and a felony to sell or trade any merchandise that bears a counterfeit trademark, the only way to legally "pass it on" through a sale or donation is by permanently and completely removing any and all Coach logos, stamps, etc, so if the creed is stamped on the inside pocket, that pocket or at the very least the entire stamped creed actually has to be removed. If any of the hardware has a fake Coach stamp, that also has to be removed, as does that fake hangtag.

Comments: Hello I'm new here. I've been eyeing this daisy purse for some time and couldn't find it on COACH web because it is sold out. And now someone on Shoppe sells it at a crazy price (around $65). Is it authentic? It looks shady tho'. Wish someone could help, thanks in advance.

Dear Authenticators,

I have a “navy” Legacy Small Flap which I am very suspicious of and would like your opinion. I want to list it for sale but the more I look at it, the more doubtful I become. The color is not a really dark navy, some of the hardware looks a bit wrong - for example the Legacy buckles are stamped “solid brass” - and it feels wrong. The measurements are approximately 8” x 7” x 4”. I think the font of the serial number may also be suspect. Here are some photo - let me know if you need additional ones.
