Is it possible to determine if this hang tag and strap are authentic? Each came to me on a different bag some time ago.

The metal hangtag is a gunmetal color (the finish is chipping) - measures approx. 1.5" end to end x .75" wide x 1/8-1/4" thick.
If authentic, any idea what bag this kind of tag would have been original to?

The strap measures approx. 38.5" end to end including the clasps (leather strap is 34.5" long) x .50" wide x .25" double thickness.
If authentic, any idea what bag(s) this could be original to? And the time frame?

Thank you!

All the Neo styles in the catalog have leather hangtags. I don't remember seeing metal tags until after 2000, but I could be wrong, hangtags are nearly useless for authenticating bags so I don't pay much attention to them and don't have many photos of them. Gunmetal didn't appear as a metal color until maybe around 2008 or thereabouts? I don't remember many details about China-era bags and don't have many detailed photos either unless it was a highly faked style. It also seems likely that a Gunmetal color metal hangtag would have been on a bag with Gunmetal hardware and with a Gunmetal chain, unless maybe the Gunmetal coating on the chain chipped even worse than the hangtag and was replaced. IF it was authentic.

There's no way to tell what kind of bag that strap came from, sorry. The same holds for the hangtag.

And I'm not sure if either one of them is an authentic Coach piece. Are you sure the bags they were attached to were even authentic?

@whateve may have some ideas.

Both bags were authenticated here. The metal tag arrived on a 6134 Twill bag and I've only found those (online) to have the leather tags.
The strap arrived on a 9430 Slim Satchel. You ladies mentioned at the time of authentication that it did not belong to the satchel. I have run across something on a 1051 replacement strap for 9635 (Convertible Clutch). This looks identical other than the length, so I wondered if a longer replacement was swapped for the standard factory length strap. But you ladies know better than I, does mine look like the factory (original US or NYC type-not factory store) strap similar to 1051?

They look fine. I’ve seen those types of hang tags on Neo bags. They may have been on others too.

Thank you for taking a look. I have no idea what a Neo bag is.

Sorry, i get Neo and Twill confused. (I'll attribute to old age.)

I knew I'd had a bag with one so after going through my sales and pictures, I found that 9051 has that type of hangtag. (I do think yours looks good. Is the weight substantial for a hangtag?)
Here's one - not my listing - showing the hangtag: https://www.tradesy.com/i/coach-vin...-h8c-9501-black-leather-shoulder-bag/2241583/

Old age is my go to reason too. :noworry:
The tag in the link looks like mine - thank you! And yes, it is rather heavy - a bit heavier than the freebie metal tags Coach used to send out. Apparently the seller (or someone before them) added this particular hang tag to my 6134 when I bought it since it doesn't seem to be original to the bag. Thanks again for your sleuthing efforts!

Regarding the strap: Does it appear to be an original maybe taken from 9635? The shorter version of replacement strap 1051?

I don't see anything that indicates that the strap isn't from a Coach bag but I can't say which style it came from.

I don't remember the hangtag. The strap looks fine. Convertible clutch straps were 36 inches long. I'm not sure how they measured them. Swinger bags came with 38 inch strap.

Hi all!

I've been shopping around trying to find the right bags to build a small collection, so I am back with another request. I hope it's fine to list two items in one post, but if this doesn't follow your formatting, please let me know. These are two bags from different Etsy sellers that claim they're made in 70s NYC.

BAG #1

Item: 1970s crossbody bag
Listing number: 1197749267
Seller: ShopColdDesert
Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/119774...rnal_collection=MTYzMzE4NzJ8NjE4NDY5MjY&frs=1
Comments: Not sure of style name

BAG #2
Item: Dinky bag
Listing number: 1234951018
Seller: ShinyPrettyStash

Thank you!

Are you kidding?!?!? They wouldn't answer your question because you use TPF?!?!? That says a LOT about that site, and IMO, it isn't a lot of "good!"

There are plenty of sites, TPF, Ebay among them, that don't care where you post, what sites you're a member of and have no reason to deny you answers to your questions.

ANY seller or ANY site that doesn't respond to legitimate questions is NOT worthy of your hard-earned money or your business.
Apologies, I think my reply wasn't clear! CoachCounterfits on Facebook did not respond to my request to join. The Etsy seller did respond to me, saying they get everything authenticated (by CoachCounterfits). The seller's bags look good but since their information is wonky, I am going to put off purchasing from them for now. They seem like a nice vintage shop otherwise so I don't want to accidentally soil their reputation!

I am newish to vintage coach bags and trying to learn about styles, and this shop's listings have confused me a bit! Aside from the 90s City Bag they listed as 80s, they have a City Bag that is around 9 inches instead of the usual 11 inches, which I hadn't come across before. They also have a "city bag" that says 1970s, but I thought the style started in 1987.

Very few sellers know the correct names and ages of their listings. If you post links to the listings, we can give you the correct information. We have a special thread for bags you want IDed rather than authenticated here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...st-any-coach-item-name-questions-here.355205/
