Hi authenticators! Can you please take a look at these listings? Thanks!

1- genuine, but the seller's description claims the bag was made between 1970 and 1979. Not even close, the serial number proves it was made in the early 1990s.

2- genuine, but just as with the previous listing, the seller was off on the date of manufacture. Also early 1990s.

Both are authentic.

Note that the second seller, Debsmorningstar on Etsy is also debsw52 on ebay and debwes on Poshmark.
A search of the ID on tPF brings up a history. I haven't seen fakes lately but for a while, they were quite frequent.

Thanks! When I get it, I'll take pics. She does have a ruler in one pic and it appears to be about 9.5 inches square. In my research online, I saw other bags 9168 which appeared to have brass buckles and silver color grommets. We shall see if it's a trick of the lighting or something odd.
No, there's not enough to authenticate.

Even if the bag is authentic, the strap doesn't appear to be original to the bag because the grommets are silver, or look that way to me.

She doesn't even have measurements in that listing! Sheesh, don't sellers realize that they can get more money when they make the effort to do a bit of work? But then, these types of deals (if authentic) wouldn't happen.
Got the bag. I think it's counterfeit. Serial is smeary-ish, fat lettering: J8H-4161. 4161 is a different style bag than this square thing. Thing is, I sort of like the bag. And it was only $15. I could cut off the Coach markings and keep it. Or return it. I don't know what to do.

"J8H-" prefixes are always fake, the "H" plant code had been retired by September 1998. Do a forum Search for "Coach serial j8h". There are seven pages of links to posts that mention that prefix.

@BeenBurned can probably tell you the best way to return it. Or like you said, cut off the Coach creed and any other logos and keep it.

Comments: Is there enough info here to authenticate (or suggest a possible style)? If not, I'll take my own pics and request again when the bag is in hand. For the cheap price, I thought I'd take a chance. It looks like a 9168. "North South Compartment Bag." Thanks!!

Personally, I wouldn't keep a fake. Plus, it's not just $15; it's closer to $30 with shipping and the 10.25% for the sales tax in Seattle. For that price, you can get a genuine bag!

Keeping a fake gives the seller a free pass when it certainly isn't warranted.

If you decide to return, you WILL win the dispute and won't be out of pocket a cent.

Go to your purchase history. Click on "return this item" and scroll down to "doesn't match description or photos." After clicking "next" you'll have a blank box in which you can type that "item is a counterfeit Coach bag."

Seller will have 3 choices:
1. Issue a refund (and not require return)
2. Supply a prepaid shipping label (at her expense) for you to return it for refund
3. Offer a partial refund (Note that in this case, a partial refund won't make a fake become genuine. Partials are fair for undisclosed flaws but not in this case, IMO.)

If the seller doesn't respond, you'll be given a date on which you can escalate and ebay will issue the refund without requiring the return.

ETA: I realized that korova03 had previously sold that same bag on June 25 (Coach black leather crossbody bags for women) . I wonder if that buyer returned the fake and the seller relisted.

Thank you! I'm returning it. ETA: Seller already accepted my return.

Could you take a look at this one? I'm pasting photos as it's on Poshmark, so needs password access.

Thank you for your time!

Thank you for posting the photos.

It's a genuine Bleecker Satchel made in 1998.

Can someone look at this? I searched the forum for the prefix, which is J1773, and nothing came up. I searched the internet for the model number, which is 25904, but the only solid hits that came back were for this listing. It's for a Coach Swagger 27.

The listing does have pictures of front, back, creed, and a picture of a tag:

Comments: Pretty sure the same listing is also on Mercari here, where it comes with an authenticity certificate. But I've never purchased a used bag before, so am perhaps unnecessarily wary: https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m69882563826/

Thank you.

Congrats on 5000+ pages of posts! Our authenticators are a huge part of that volume of work. Another one to confirm with you, as I've not seen a Hungary code recently, though I know it was a location of production from what has been stated here.

It looks good.

ALthough googling a style number can sometimes help determine if a bag is (at least) the correct style, that doesn't mean that the bag is authentic. There are plenty of fakes with seemingly correct serial numbers.

Also, it's not necessary to google the prefix (first half) of post-1993 bags. The prefix is production information indicating month, year and factory where a bag was made but because they're made over time and in different plants, the prefix can vary on genuine items.
