Sorry, it's fake. Almost all of the hardware is wrong, the C pattern on the outside isn't correctly centered, the style is fake and was never made by Coach, the serial number is missing almost all of the production codes. and Coach bags with the C pattern on the outside should never have a C pattern lining.

Almost every single detail of that bag is wrong.
Thank you so much

Would you be able to provide one of those vintage ads for this one? Was there one made available?
thank you @Hyacinth

Did you know that there is an entire thread of scans from vintage Coach catalogs at the Reference thread in the main Coach forum? As long as you know the year, or the approximate year in the case of vintage bags made before 1994, you can usually find a catalog page and description if you're patient and persistent.

Here's the page from a 1983 catalog:

The six Salearea Guides Pinned near the top of this thread here at the Coach Shopping forum can tell you how to read a serial number in genuine Coaches made after 1994. Take your time and read the entire thread, once you've read it a few times it will all start to make sense:

Item:CA764
Listing number:
Seller and site where listed

Comments: I purchased a Edie turnlock from the Category: Re-Loved it was restored. I have the receipt and the tag is still on the purse. I’m trying to sell the purse and the Authentication department for Mercari states it is “inconclusive”. Can you please help me with authentication? Thank you
You'll have to wait until one of our authenticators who is familiar with newer styles gets back from their vacations. Meanwhile, when it's convenient, please include copies of the tags and paperwork from Coach's Reloved department, and also look carefully for a small white tag that's probably at the very bottom of one of the inside pockets that includes 2 lines of letters and numbers showing the production codes and try to take a readable photo of the tag and include it in your reply. Thank you.
Thank you I uploaded the pictures. Unfortunately there were no tags inside the purse other than the made in tag.
I don't see any problems with the bag and question Mercari's knowledge of newer bags. I seem to recall other "inconclusive" calls they've made.

FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
Item:Coach Tan Shoulder Bag
Listing number:
Seller and site where listed: @ThingsAnay on Etsy
Link:https://www.etsy.com/listing/1221848100/
Comments: Hello and happy rising. I am hoping to be able to receive an authentication on this listing. Thank you in advance.
Genuine, but not British and not a Berkeley. It's a genuine Crescent Bag 9235 probably from the early to middle 1980s.
I want to give you a heads up that this listing is a scam. The seller took the photos from this listing

I own this bag, I have it in my possession. I don't know what she will send if you purchase this listing but it is not the bag in the pictures. I have contacted her several times and gives a bunch of excuses and says I don't know what I'm talking about.

@DoraT94 - where is the Etsy bag shipping from?? The Etsy seller has only had 2 sales - both apparently the same bag. The only item left in her shop now says its ships from Mexico. Just curious - as @coachowe suggested a scam.

Hum....Both "sold" Etsy bags surprisingly seem to have the identical number.

@DL Harper The listing states that it is being shipped from Mexico. I messaged her before the sale and she said “It is a great piece and in very good condition”.
i suppose too good to be true. Will update again soon.

Because another tFPer has the exact bag in the photos in her possession, you have no way of knowing what bag the Etsy seller will actually send to you. Regardless of her statement, she didn't sell you the bag in the photos. The Etsy seller is definitely not the same seller/buyer who the pictured bag belongs to. Sadly Etsy is not very responsive to some issues. Ultimately the choice is yours, but I'd cancel the sale right away by contacting Etsy. You (and your money) deserve to get a bag that you can actually see in a photo(s) to determine if it will work for you. Bait and switch could be a real problem. JMO Good luck!

Please see the yellow highlighted post (from Vlad) at the top of each page for the information we need. It applies to all items, whether current (active) listings or completed and received by you, the buyer.

My apologies, please see below for updated information:

Thank you @BeenBurned! I suspected the hang tag was fake which made me doubt the bag. I understand about the name of the lister and why. The seller was kelseyb1, but she took the listing down soon after it sold so it didn't show up in my favorites, but I found it again.

I'll be certain to include all required information in the future. I appreciate your time and attention!
Thank you!
Chris
Sorry, rather than hang tag, I meant snap head charm...
