Comments: possible mini bantam backpack from 1996?

Genuine Soho Bantam Bag made in 1996

Thank you Hyacinth, that is very informative.
I live in Eastern Europe and vintage coach bags were never a thing here. To most people these are just some old bags. On the upside we don’t have coach collectors, and I can buy the bags for cheap. I suspect there is a stain on the bag and the pocket is meant to hide it. We shall see, Rehab and Rescue club it is.

That's possible, something like an oil or ink stain right in the center would be something that might inspire drastic action. Good luck with your repair and rehab!

So I recently found this forum, and I have a collection of probably 20 vintage coach bags. None are authenticated. I never realized until finding this forum how prevalent vintage fakes are. I always figured that you would spot a fake from a mile away if you knew the basics about Coach. How wrong I was!

I thrift and go to EstateSales all the time, and I do sell some of the bags occasionally that I don’t want to keep. Or if I get find multiples or no longer want one in my collection I’ll rotate it out.

I am actually the seller of this bag, so I’m not sure if this is allowed here, I didn’t see anything in the rules about it not being, but please do let me know if it’s inappropriate or against the rules. Now that I know more about how often vintage bags are faked, I want to make sure it’s authentic.

Item name: 1997 Bedford flap soho in bone
Listing ID: 1198160111
Seller: me, madamesaintvintage via Etsy
Link: https://www.madamesaintvintage.com/listing/1198160111/vintage-coach-4164-bedford-saddle-bag-in

I’m also attaching a picture of the magnetic male side of the snap as requested in the rules.

Finally, is there a paid authentication site or service that anyone can recommend? It doesn’t feel right to ask about a bag that I plan on selling and not pay for the service.

Hi folks, could I have some help in authenticating a black Stewardess bag?

item: Black Stewardess bag, serial number A1P-9525
Seller: emmavintageny on etsy
Listing: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1183163790/vintage-authentic-coach-black-leather?click_key=be4a44ed04e73378c23bff29cbcdcad741ba0bb6:1183163790&click_sum=59b6bc83&ref=shop_home_recs_1&frs=1&cns=1

I *think* I see some wonky stitching on the base (alongside the piping). Am I reading too much into this?

As always, thanks so much for your help.

(edited to corrected the buying platform - It's Etsy, not ebay. Sorry about that.)

Genuine, from 2001. "Wonky stitching" is never used as proof that something's fake except in extreme cases. We prefer using details that aren't a result of human inexperience or incompetence or a faulty sewing machine or trying to sew through multiple layers of leather.

Personally I would keep it. I think it would be hard to find another for the price you paid. I think it would rehab nicely. Unfortunately with Poshmark, I don't there is any way to get a partial refund. If you claim not as described, more than likely you'll be told to return the bag and get a full refund.
I think I have decided to keep it as well. I did submit a complaint to Poshmark stating that it was not what was pictured and was covered in mold. They have yet to respond. I have not yet posted a comment on the seller though. TBH I am torn. I don't think it was an "honest" mistake. She knew the creed was not the correct one and she knew the bag had mold. Yet she posted that it was in excellent condition. However, the bag itself was not a fake. Saying nothing is the easiest, but I'm not sure it's the best since she might do something similar to others. I guess all I need to do is be honest.

Here on the Coach subforum, we do help sellers who want to stay honest, however forum rules disallow the posting of your own items.

For your items, you would need to upload pictures of the item as well as the other information required as stated in the yellow highlighted post at the top of the page. (We want to know the sources of your items and if purchased online, seller IDs and links to listings.)

The bag in the listing you've posted is authentic and was made in 1997. (It isn't the etsy listing shown, though. It's on your own website.)

Thank you so much, BeenBurned. I will definitely not be sharing anything else for sale in the future unless it’s authenticated.

As for the website, it’s Pattern powered by Etsy, so it’s just a “shell” of the Etsy listing in my shop, but I’ll be sure to use the actual listing link in the future.

ETA clarifying, I won’t be sharing my own listings as per forum rules.

Thanks again.
