I know this isn't the right forum, but I was on the Wayback Machine the other day in 2002 and saw these really cute bags called Girlie Paisley. I've never ever seen one for sale on eBay or anywhere else for that matter. Are they really rare?

There was a large line of Girlie Bags in almost every possible fabric, leather and pattern available mostly in 2000-2001. Style numbers for the original line began with 8114 and continued with a few exceptions through 8176, then from 8307 to around 8319. You might be talking about the Girlie Paisley Perfed Hobo, 8145. They show up on Ebay once in a while and all have the same basic styling so they're easy to spot. Considering how many different styles were made and how few you see on Ebay I'd say they're fairly unusual.

There are six listed on Ebay right now but none of them are Paisley.

Please authenticate:

1) Coach Blue Leather Messenger Purse
22197022
Goodwill of North Florida
http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Coach-Blue-Leather-Messenger-Purse-22197022.html

My comment is on the integrity (or lack thereof) of Goodwill of North Florida.

It appears that the seller purposely photoshopped the serial number from the picture of the creed. Additionally, it appears to me that the end of the dowel is black painted wood and not wood-covered leather as it should be

IMO, a seller who disguises the important details on an item where they clearly know what pictures are necessary for authenticating isn't one I recommend.

1- The first one has NO serial number and I can't see even a hint of a stamp to show it ever had one. The leather part of the turnlock tab isn't right either. Not only can't we authenticate this style without a serial number but the lack of a number in this case makes it 99.9 percent sure that it's fake

Thank you Hyacinth!

I can't believe that I didn't even notice that there was no serial number on the first bag! Thank goodness for this forum.

I stand by my comment on the first bag. That bag isn't missing a serial number. The bag HAS a serial number and the seller, Goodwill of North Florida photoshopped it out. (My guess is that it has a known invalid s/n and the seller is attempting to hide the fact.) I think the seller is purposely being deceptive.

If you look closely at the enlarged picture of the serial number portion of the creed, you can see that the texture of that part of the bag is different than the rest of the area under the creed.

Here's the creed:

And to show how sneaky the seller is and how discreet it is, I've attached a side-by-side of the Goodwill creed and another of the same creed in which I photoshopped out the part of the creed where it says "this is a coach bag."

That's them! The paisley ones are very pretty and an unusual print for Coach. I will keep my eyes peeled.;)

Both look genuine. The color of the first one might be Putty. Repairs aren't my area, please wait for Whateve or another of our Rehab and Rescue ladies to take a look.
ETA - the second "repair" the seller mentions isn't damage, it's the way all those straps were made. "another spot (factory, I believe) where there is a seam in the edge trim of the strap. (see last photo)." If a buyer wants to reinforce that it's their decision. But it's already lasted almost 30 years without it.

Thank you!

Please remember, we can only comment on authenticity in this forum. Comments on price or condition aren't allowed according the the rules in post number 1, so unless we see something the buyer may not have spotted or understood and needs to be warned about (like a drastically shortened strap) it's up to the buyer to decide if the condition of the item is acceptable.
Sorry Hyacinth, I didn't know I spoke out of turn:shame:
I will be more careful.

Don't worry, it's not a problem. You didn't do anything wrong or break any rules. :smile1:

Condition is a very tricky thing to figure out when all we have to go by is photos, so that's something that has to be left to the seller or buyer to judge. It can be hard enough judging authenticity just from a few pictures, and condition can involve so many more details like feel and odor that we're just not able to "see". Usually if there's a problem we spot that we think the poster or buyer may have missed, we'll point it out, but we just don't have enough information to comment.

ETA - change "seller" to "seller or buyer"

Than, you, ladies. I was thinking of leaving neutrals and dinging their stars, but I like confirmation.

Hopefully, future buyers will search this thread for libertystore, and come across my saga, and be careful. I'm glad it's over. Thanks again for all your advice!

Quick update. I left neutrals, and libertystore is now asking me to revise the feedback. I declined. In my opinion, this seller behaved unprofessionally by being difficult to get to comply with their listing terms and combine shipping (and initiating NPB in the process), overcharging shipping on two of the four items, and not describing two of the items properly.
