If the moody 7-year old is female, you could give her the fake purses to use when she plays Dress-Up. :smile1:

Hilarious! My 7 year old is a boy...he is pretty good at spotting fake when they have the signature C logos. Not so much on the leather. Thanks to you and Beenburned for your help. 3 out of 5 is ok when they were that cheap. I may use the fakes to try out refinishing with leather dye so I don't end up ruining one of the real deal bags.

Genuine Court Bag from 1997

EDITED TO ADD - You may want to check out the VERY long thread at the main Coach forum here about how to rescue and rehab your Coach, there are tons of suggestions for cleaning and conditioning the leathers. Unfortunately there are over 600 PAGES to this thread and at least one other previous thread that was closed and archived. But if you search that thread for something like "cleaning white leather" you may find some information.

Awesome. Thank you! The forum can prove to be overwhelming sometimes when looking for info.

Tell me about it! It takes most users months to really figure things out, and I still have to bookmark some of the URLs just so I can find things. Luckily you can Subscribe to threads that you're especially interested in so you can find them later.

Good idea. Now I'm questioning one for sure with style number No P5P-9755. View attachment 3032009View attachment 3032010

FAKE. The serial prefix P5P is phony. It has an invalid production code that would never have been used by Coach and a plant code that doesn't match the stamped country..
This fake bag is a good example of precisely the reason why a seemingly "valid" style number (9755) on a bag doesn't mean that the bag is authentic.

Although your bag looks like what 9755 looks like, the prefix proves otherwise. (Note also that fakes can have not-so-obvious incorrect prefixes.

My comment is on the integrity (or lack thereof) of Goodwill of North Florida.

It appears that the seller purposely photoshopped the serial number from the picture of the creed. Additionally, it appears to me that the end of the dowel is black painted wood and not wood-covered leather as it should be

IMO, a seller who disguises the important details on an item where they clearly know what pictures are necessary for authenticating isn't one I recommend.

I have certainly enjoyed this buyer's experiences and all the feedback from it. If she had passed up those bargains, she would have always been thinking she could have bought a classic for $2.50. For me, I would have bought them for that price, and have Them authenticated here. If even all 5 proved fakes it would have been worth $12.50 for the thrill of "maybe" having a few being real.

Thank you!

1- The first one has NO serial number and I can't see even a hint of a stamp to show it ever had one. The leather part of the turnlock tab isn't right either. Not only can't we authenticate this style without a serial number but the lack of a number in this case makes it 99.9 percent sure that it's fake

2- looks ok.

3- looks ok. But I want to emphasize that any time a listing says that it's been "authenticated by ******************", that authentication should NEVER be depended on and the item should always be posted here for a QUALIFIED authentication.

Although this one is genuine, and even though the odds say they should at least get it right 50 percent of the time, ****************** hasn't manage to get into the "50 percent right" bracket. From other Coach listings they've "authenticated", my own personal opinion is that they are neither qualified nor competent to handle Coach products. Their methods and TOS also are questionable.

Here are just two examples.

They have a "Trusted Sellers List" which, believe it or not, DOESN'T REQUIRE THAT THE SELLER ACTUALLY PROVE ANY OF THEIR ITEMS ARE AUTHENTIC. Their TOS says only that "Our Trusted Sellers have been checked to make sure they have a history of selling authentic goods. This does not mean that their items have been authenticated, unless otherwise stated by the seller." A HISTORY? Determined by WHO? Or WHAT? 100 percent Ebay Feedback? Well DUH. How many Ebay sellers of fakes have we seen with 100 percent feedback? More than I care to even think about.

And all it is, is free advertising for AF. Whether or not any of the seller's listings have even been authenticated, the TOS says "This program is free to our Trusted Sellers, all we require in return is our Trusted Seller logo with a link back to this site to verify your status. If accepted as a Trusted Seller, the logo and html coding will be emailed to you so you can add it to your auctions. You are required to display this logo on all designer luxury items." (Italics theirs, not mine).

And if you just want an authentication, you're signing over the rights to AF to your photos and descriptions. "Client grants the Company a perpetual nonexclusive, royalty free, worldwide right and license to use, with the right to sub license, any portion of the authentication report (other than personally identifiable information such as Client's name, address and email address) including, without limitation, item images, item descriptions, for any purpose in any and all media and by any and all means now or hereafter known or devised for any purpose whatsoever, including without limitation the commercialization of such material."
Why would they want what's essentially the copyright to your work and photos? And why should they have the right to sell or profit from it?

Thanks in advance,

Lady Edwards

Both look genuine. The color of the first one might be Putty. Repairs aren't my area, please wait for Whateve or another of our Rehab and Rescue ladies to take a look.
ETA - the second "repair" the seller mentions isn't damage, it's the way all those straps were made. "another spot (factory, I believe) where there is a seam in the edge trim of the strap. (see last photo)." If a buyer wants to reinforce that it's their decision. But it's already lasted almost 30 years without it.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach bag?
From GW yesterday...
Approx. 7"w x 6.5"h x 3.75"d Strap 6.5" to rings.
Maybe a 2010 Julia Op Art demi or pouch, or something like that #44837
As always, thanks in advance!

Hello Ladies
I picked this up over the weekend and my significant other insisted I buy it
I was having a hard time with the piping around the entire bag being an off/ faded color from the black on the rest of the bag, also the strap at the end looks a little hokey to me, hope someone can make him right and it is authentic:cool:
Thanks in Advance
RC
