Hello Ladies
I picked this up over the weekend and my significant other insisted I buy it
I was having a hard time with the piping around the entire bag being an off/ faded color from the black on the rest of the bag, also the strap at the end looks a little hokey to me, hope someone can make him right and it is authentic:cool:
Thanks in Advance
RC

It's a genuine Shelbourne Flap from 1998

1- The first one has NO serial number and I can't see even a hint of a stamp to show it ever had one. The leather part of the turnlock tab isn't right either. Not only can't we authenticate this style without a serial number but the lack of a number in this case makes it 99.9 percent sure that it's fake

2- looks ok.

3- looks ok. But I want to emphasize that any time a listing says that it's been "authenticated by ******************", that authentication should NEVER be depended on and the item should always be posted here for a QUALIFIED authentication.

Although this one is genuine, and even though the odds say they should at least get it right 50 percent of the time, ****************** hasn't manage to get into the "50 percent right" bracket. From other Coach listings they've "authenticated", my own personal opinion is that they are neither qualified nor competent to handle Coach products. Their methods and TOS also are questionable.

Here are just two examples.

They have a "Trusted Sellers List" which, believe it or not, DOESN'T REQUIRE THAT THE SELLER ACTUALLY PROVE ANY OF THEIR ITEMS ARE AUTHENTIC. Their TOS says only that "Our Trusted Sellers have been checked to make sure they have a history of selling authentic goods. This does not mean that their items have been authenticated, unless otherwise stated by the seller." A HISTORY? Determined by WHO? Or WHAT? 100 percent Ebay Feedback? Well DUH. How many Ebay sellers of fakes have we seen with 100 percent feedback? More than I care to even think about.

And all it is, is free advertising for AF. Whether or not any of the seller's listings have even been authenticated, the TOS says "This program is free to our Trusted Sellers, all we require in return is our Trusted Seller logo with a link back to this site to verify your status. If accepted as a Trusted Seller, the logo and html coding will be emailed to you so you can add it to your auctions. You are required to display this logo on all designer luxury items." (Italics theirs, not mine).

And if you just want an authentication, you're signing over the rights to AF to your photos and descriptions. "Client grants the Company a perpetual nonexclusive, royalty free, worldwide right and license to use, with the right to sub license, any portion of the authentication report (other than personally identifiable information such as Client's name, address and email address) including, without limitation, item images, item descriptions, for any purpose in any and all media and by any and all means now or hereafter known or devised for any purpose whatsoever, including without limitation the commercialization of such material."
Why would they want what's essentially the copyright to your work and photos? And why should they have the right to sell or profit from it?

Please remember, we can only comment on authenticity in this forum. Comments on price or condition aren't allowed according the the rules in post number 1, so unless we see something the buyer may not have spotted or understood and needs to be warned about (like a drastically shortened strap) it's up to the buyer to decide if the condition of the item is acceptable.

I know this isn't the right forum, but I was on the Wayback Machine the other day in 2002 and saw these really cute bags called Girlie Paisley. I've never ever seen one for sale on eBay or anywhere else for that matter. Are they really rare?
