Coach satchel navy blue and tan trim.
seller: Schmidt auctions
Lot: 495

Thanks guys!

It's a genuine Madison Satchel Spectator, style 6765 and from the early 1990s, most likely 1990. Obviously it's missing the strap. It was introduced in the Fall 1989 book but the serial number in this one makes it early 1990 and it's in the 1990 Spring catalog as well.

Hello again Authenticators,
Please authenticate this bag.

Item: COACH 9950 Janice
Listing number:
Seller and site where listed https://poshmark.com/closet/bestoneswi Poshmark

Comments: I purchased this bag before I found your website. I should have done more research before purchasing it. Thank you for your help!
Darn, did Posh have a Flash Sale on fake Janice's Legacy Bags recently?

FAKE, sorry. The fonts used in the serial prefix don't match what was used the same month and year and from the same "L" plant. The zipper slider mechanism color doesn't match the zipper "teeth", and like the reply I just made right above this in Post 70,500 about another fake Janice's Legacy, the top edge of the inside pocket is just raw cut leather when it should be stitched down along the top.

Here are the FAKE Janice's from 1995, no stitching on the inside pocket edge, click on the thumbnails to enlarge:

Aw, geez! And bestoneswi is another seller who helps cement my opinion of Poshmark and their sellers!

bestoneswi has multiple other fakes mixed in her listings, possibly fooling buyers into believing she sells authentic items.

More fakes from bestoneswi.

For those who love Poshmark and take issue with my opinions of the site and members, contact PM admin and tell them they need to fix their reputation!
I'll apologize up front for beating a dead horse, but I've always contended that many sellers go to Poshmark to peddle the fakes they can't sell on safer sites.

And here's yet another example.

In the posts above, several fakes were discusssed as being in bestoneswi's closet.

It turns out that those fakes weren't listed on ebay by the same seller, bestoneswi.

If bestoneswi on ebay knows enough not to list them on ebay, why would an honest seller list them on Poshmark other than that she knows she can get away with it there.

Poshmark, CLEAN UP YOUR ACT!

1- genuine Lenox Bag, style 9918, early 1990s

2 - It's similar to a Turnlock Clutch style 9836 from the early 1990s but that one has an inside zipped pocket and a slip pocket under the flap. I can't find the exact style in your photo. It's from the same time period but probably NOT the same number since the construction details are different. When construction details changed, except for minor things like strap length or attachment, Coach usually but not always would give it a new style number. Those early small accessories are hard to find and pin down unless you get lucky.

Turnlock Clutch 9836 - close but not an exact match

Hi @Hyacinth ! Thank you for your detailed response! Actually it's my fault! I think mine is exactly the same bag with the one your cited. Here's additional pictures. My original series of pictures lacked the picture of the pocket under the flap. There is a zipped pocket inside.

You have nothing to lose by trying to get a refund anyway through Mercari.

I was going to tell you that there was a recent other Mercari fake and @lburrhead84 was able to get a refund after proving that the bag was fake.
Please help, mercari said that i need a authenticator proving its fake. I already sent them this conversation but they still need a third party to do that. I will not gonna spend money again just to prove this bag fake. What will i do now? Is there anyway that i can get any cerificate on this forum saying its fake? Please help

I can offer 2 options.

The first option was the one that @lburrhead84 opted for and that was a $7.50 authentication from Authenticate4U. In exchange, you receive a PDF for attesting to the inauthenticity and you can attach that to your claim.

But since you don't want to spend more money (that they won't reimburse you for), the other option is one that will cost Mercari money but you should be able to win.

If you funded the payment with a credit card, open a dispute with the card. Explain that you received a counterfeit Coach bag, illegal by law and clearly, the seller didn't verify that it was authentic before listing. Since the item never should have been listed, you want a full refund.
