An X plant code may very rarely be legitimate, but this isn't one of those times.

Other problems - the buckles are brass-color and the strap hole grommets are silver-color, and notice that the top of the inside pocket is just cut straight across the leather with no reinforcing stitching at all, just raw cut leather. This is what the top of the inside pocket in a REAL Janice's Legacy should look like, also made in 1998 with reinforcing stitching across the top.

Thank you so much! Glad to know now regarding the inside pocket as well. I will steer clear of this one

Darn, did Posh have a Flash Sale on fake Janice's Legacy Bags recently?

FAKE, sorry. The fonts used in the serial prefix don't match what was used the same month and year and from the same "L" plant. The zipper slider mechanism color doesn't match the zipper "teeth", and like the reply I just made right above this in Post 70,500 about another fake Janice's Legacy, the top edge of the inside pocket is just raw cut leather when it should be stitched down along the top.

Here are the FAKE Janice's from 1995, no stitching on the inside pocket edge, click on the thumbnails to enlarge:

Thank you Hyacinth! I am learning so much from you all.

I'm sorry you feel that way, and if you'll read other posts where new members have made the same mistake or just failed to pay attention to a post that's deliberately trying to catch their attention, you'll see that we expect people to follow the posting requirements. But if you actually read it and there's a legitimate reason WHY you couldn't include the required information, why not just say so? Even just "Sorry, I forgot" or "I don't know how to Copy a URL on my phone". Those details aren't optional, we need them to effectively and accurately authenticate Coach items. Asking someone to read the Rules isn't being nasty, it's part of our job. And it's not something we enjoy doing over and over again.

In any new forum or discussion group someone joins, checking the main forum rules and any rules specific to individual threads or sub-forums should be one of the first things they do. Almost EVERY designer brand forum here has their own specific set of rules and if someone doesn't follow them it's very likely they won't get an answer, especially if those Rules are bolded or highlighted in bright colors.

It's a genuine Legacy Crescent bag made in 2002

No worries. I read the post and I assumed I was following the rules despite not posting the specific listing or seller name. I didn't understand why that was needed. You could have responded with something that even slightly resembles a welcoming introduction as I mentioned it was my first time but instead you decided to post as if I were deliberately or ignorantly posting incorrectly. I have other forums to post on my love of my bags and find that there is a lot more appreciation and love there. I was recommended this forum by other members and I'm also sorry I feel this way. I understand this is your job but if you don't enjoy it and will post evidently annoyed...maybe it isn't the right job for you? I thank you again for your help and I'm sure a lot gets lost in translation on the internet. I hope you have a great rest of your day!

Yes, a lot DOES get Lost in Translation. And although we try to post a "Welcome to tPF" message to new posters, when things get busy or when we're in the middle of analyzing a troublesome problem we've never seen before, we may not have time. It takes THREE authenticators to handle the volume of Coach authentications we do here - take a look at the post number in yours. Seventy Thousand, Five Hundred and Seven. That's just this single thread, it doesn't include posts that have been removed for rules violations or advertising, and that only goes back to 2014. There are at least another 10,000 posts saved in the Archive. There are mornings here when I and the others can't even find the time to make a cup of tea or coffee, or even have breakfast.

And these authentication threads aren't meant as social interaction threads. We have plenty of places here at tPF to chat about almost any fashion or entertainment subject you can imagine, and the atmosphere in most of them is much more relaxed. The authentication threads are here to save people from making expensive mistakes, and chit-chat normally is left for when we have the time and can visit the other forums.

Once in a while when things are calm we might kick our shoes off for a few minutes and go off-topic or get a little silly, but this is a WORKING thread. It may only take a few minutes to authenticate a handbag, or we may carry on a discussion over several days. Earlier today I had two questions back-to-back about fakes of the same style bag. Those two questions, by the time I found applicable photos with the critical details, saved them to my computer, and then posted 2 separate answers for two separate posters, probably occupied me for well over an hour. And those are just 2 of the 46 questions that the three of us have been working on since Midnight.

Understand something - we're ALL volunteers here. We do this in between taking care of our families, doing our regular jobs, trying to prod crabby computers back into life, running our own businesses (i'm the only authenticator for Coach who DOESN'T buy or sell Coach and other brands on the internet, at least not any more), struggling through home renovations, sick pets, cooking edible meals, and getting a decent night's sleep - ALL WITHOUT PAY or any recompense of any kind. And often without even a Thank You. And we won't even get into the cost of doing this.

So if you like things to be more relaxed and chatty, just check the main Forums list, there are plenty of sub-forums for just about anyone's list of favorite subjects, from the latest doings of Harry and Meghan to favorite brands of chocolate. The Authentication forums are here to save members from themselves, and we handle it as a serious responsibility.

Curious about this one:

Item: 9950
Listing number: N/A
Seller and site where listed: marchairez on Poshmark

Comments: from some quick reading, seems that the US + X plant can sometimes be legit? But unsure overall on how this looks, and I think N month?

Thanks for your time and knowledge!

There are people who seem to have an issue with my recommending against doing business on Poshmark and with their sellers.

And this is another seller who is a prime example of why I don't like the site and recommend against some of the sellers there.

Poshmark seller marchairez is what I call a mixer, one who mixes authentic items in with fakes. This type of seller is especially dangerous because buyers may feel a sense of trust and reassurance, assuming that all the seller's items are the real deal.

In addition to the fake that @Hyacinth authenticated, marchairez also has this fake.

Aw, geez! And bestoneswi is another seller who helps cement my opinion of Poshmark and their sellers!

bestoneswi has multiple other fakes mixed in her listings, possibly fooling buyers into believing she sells authentic items.

More fakes from bestoneswi.

For those who love Poshmark and take issue with my opinions of the site and members, contact PM admin and tell them they need to fix their reputation!
