It looks OK. The year code is a bit hard to read but it looks like 1996

I’m hoping I can get some info on this piece like name and age. And if it’s complete other than the hangtag, which is missing. TIA!!!

I am so sorry for not including the measurements!!! It is 13” long and 8.5” wide. It’s about 1.25” thick.
There is only one grommet. It’s on the left end if you’re looking at the front.
There are some bank receipts from 1985 in it but I know that doesn’t really mean much.
Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you so much for your help!!!

I still haven't been able to find it and I've looked through all my photo files from that time period. It's more likely to be a Portfolio than a Clutch.

Maybe @whateve has seen it or had one in her collection.

I assume it's because there is a "low" one! I don't have an official name or style number for this one. It is 15 x 8 inches.

And look what I found when I added photos of the Buckled Clutch to my "Style Numbers 0000-10000" folder:



I have it saved as "9605_Buckled Clutch High 1978", so 1978 must be the estimated date of the mini-catalog foldout where someone found it. The pic was saved by me on June 10, 2016 so there's probably a post about it here at tPF somewhere. Since it doesn't show up in the only 1976 and 1979 foldouts I've seen, that might narrow it down to 1978, or maybe it just didn't appear in the mini catalogs we've seen before. The serial number seems like it should be just a few years newer but @whateve is better with those early serial - sorry, "registration" numbers than I am.

(I'm sorry I didn't check that photo folder when I checked the catalogs. There are 11,051 photos in mostly 170x170 pixel thumbnail form to look through in that folder so I hope I can be forgiven)

It's genuine and made some time between about 1980 and 1988, but so far I haven't been able to find any records. If it was in one of the old catalogs, it's one that I don't have. Measurements would help, note that they are one of the details we require in the "READ ME" post at the top of each page..

The hole and grommet in one corner may have been for a wrist strap rather than a hangtag, if there's only one hole, which would seem to indicate a Clutch. If there's one on each side then it could have been for a shoulder strap. A Portfolio would be larger, but again, without measurements there's no way to tell which it might be. From the tab and buckle pieces I'd guess that it was related to the style 9585 Saddle Pouch from the same time period.

More opinions are welcome.

@Freak4Coach What a gorgeous clutch, congratulations on a great find!

The construction of your clutch reminds me of the Saddle Pouch Standard 9590 which was one of the first vintage bags that I rehabbed a long time ago (authenticated by @Hyacinth!)

The link below includes before and after rehab photos and some information about doing the rehab. It was a tough rehab because my bag had a musty smell and a bad case of verdigris but your clutch looks to be in much better condition!

This bag cost $5 bucks and a lot of work! Rehab reveal!
