Genuine Kit Bag from 1996

On Mercari, I've found that if listings are reported by multiple users, Mercari is more apt to act on the reports and remove the listings. A report from just one user is often an exercise in futility.

ETA: Although I've reported sold listings, I'm not sure that Mercari acts on those reports.

That's too bad..
I hope someone else reports them as well!

That statement about a Coach factory for handbags in Korea is a LIE, they are all fake. Coach has NEVER made handbags, backpacks, wallets or briefcases in Korea. In fact between 20 and 30 years ago they brought at least 6 lawsuits in the Korean courts against various Korean manufacturers for copyright and trademark violations because of all those fakes. Korea is still a major source of 7-star and AAA fakes of every imaginable designer brand..

The only actual Coach items made in Korea were a few clothing items (and there are as many fake examples of clothing as there are handbags, even fake 'Seoul Olympics' items showing a year that there wasn't ANY Olympic Games anywhere and definitely NOT in Seoul!) and there was also apparently a extremely small run of sample travel bags like suitcases that Coach never put into full production. Please, NEVER believe that those "Coach" handbags with all the creed mis-spellings and the invalid "serial numbers" missing critical details were ever made by Coach!

Here are a few examples of Korean "Coach" creeds that sound like they were written by a third-rate translation program. This could never happen in any genuine Coach since COACH creates and owns the stamps for the creeds, not the plant. And where is the "No" abbreviation for "number"? Coach serial numbers are NEVER just 5 or 6 numbers, except for US-made items like bum bags and small travel items from the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics:

There are thousands of these horrible fakes in circulation, and many more like this. If any seller insists that they are genuine, run away from them as fast as you can. Coach has never made handbags in Korea. NO exceptions.

Thank you so much for all the info!
I've only been registered with this forum for a couple of days now, and I'm already learning a lot
I've read in several different Japanese websites that there used to be a Korean Coach plant in operation, so it's not just fake bags themselves that seem to be prevailing in Japan :(

Something we've known for decades - counterfeits makers, distributors and regular sellers have an information network including many private websites and discussion forums just as extensive as what we buyers, collectors and sellers of GENUINE name brands have. Information about what works and what doesn't and what potential buyers believe and don't believe is passed around like we pass around posts of an upcoming sale or a live feed of a Coach runway showing. If some buyers will believe that Coach had a plant in Korea and those Made In Korea "Coaches"are genuine, the word will be passed on.

Those crooks' shadow networks also closely follow the legitimate forums like this one, and if we spot a mistake in their fakes, they correct it as soon as word gets into their network. We used to see a lot of that 10 or 20 years ago before the fakes started becoming so accurate. We'd mention a problem with the C pattern alignment that would prove a bag was fake and within a few months the number of fakes with that mistake had shrunk down by half, because the really careful crooks read our forums and adjusted their production standards accordingly. That's one of the reasons why we don't always go into complete detail when we tell someone their bag is fake. We don't want to give the crooks any hints about how to make their fakes more accurate.

Never doubt that the professional crooks know what lies work and which don't. They've been doing it for a long time.

I'm pretty sure this wallet is FAKE, just checking in with you experts. I got it from shopgoodwill.com in a lot with several items. Opinions? Attaching my own photos. The "leather" is sewn on crooked, the embossed lettering is crude and is not centered, the "leather" feels fake, the c's are not uniform. Trinket-y hardware. Just looks like cheap crap.

All of the above. Plus the Cs are much too big, the zipper pull should NOT be stamped Coach, and the inside of the wallet has stitching where it should be heat-sealed. Definitely a cheap POS.

See if you can get at least part of your money back.

It's fake.

IIRC, trunkofjewels has been discussed in the past.

ETA: Yup, she has a history:

There might be other posts too.

Thank you for identifying this Coach as a fake. Egads, that was painful to hear. I should have checked with you first. I was so excited to add this bag to my new collection of vintage Coaches that I foolishly purchased it last night. I just submitted a request to TrunkofJewels to cancel the order . Thanks again for all your efforts.

You might direct her here since someone who sells as many Coaches as she does should certainly verify authenticity, especially since she hasn't developed enough knowledge to be "self authenticating."
