By the way, I ran into a bunch of bags "made in Korea" while I was shopping for the bags that I asked your advice for.
Are these all fake?

(This one says it was checked for authenticity at a brand auction.)

(Interestingly, this listing actually says in the description: "Coach owned a factory between the late 80's and the 90's and produced bags during a very short period of time. They made the same quality bags as those made in the US, but since those made in Korea are more scarce, they are more valuable!")

There seems to be many many more of similar listings on Mercari Japan...
Aha! That's where all the Japanese sellers with Korean fakes have gone to unload their bags!

THey're all fake and that statement about the fakes being more valuable is a huge lie! (And I'm pretty sure I recall that last bag with the BS statement on ebay in the past!)

ETA: I found a post on the Hall of Shame with this one:

There are so many of them. HEre's the result of a keyword "Japanese Korean" search on just theHOS thread:

Thanks a lot for checking -- that's really good to know!
I will try reporting those to Mercari Japan to see what they do about them!!

It's really sad to see them having been already sold :(
(Some of them do look nice on the listings, and I almost purchased one myself, as I'm quite new to vintage Coach...)

I reported all the listings that I posted here, and one of them is already deleted :) (don't know whether by the site or the seller, though.)
I will try posting all the "made in Korea" bags I may find in the future on the HOS thread.

On Mercari, I've found that if listings are reported by multiple users, Mercari is more apt to act on the reports and remove the listings. A report from just one user is often an exercise in futility.

ETA: Although I've reported sold listings, I'm not sure that Mercari acts on those reports.

(These listings claim that the bags are checked for authenticity at the stores that they were bought at.)

That statement about a Coach factory for handbags in Korea is a LIE, they are all fake. Coach has NEVER made handbags, backpacks, wallets or briefcases in Korea. In fact between 20 and 30 years ago they brought at least 6 lawsuits in the Korean courts against various Korean manufacturers for copyright and trademark violations because of all those fakes. Korea is still a major source of 7-star and AAA fakes of every imaginable designer brand..

The only actual Coach items made in Korea were a few clothing items (and there are as many fake examples of clothing as there are handbags, even fake 'Seoul Olympics' items showing a year that there wasn't ANY Olympic Games anywhere and definitely NOT in Seoul!) and there was also apparently a extremely small run of sample travel bags like suitcases that Coach never put into full production. Please, NEVER believe that those "Coach" handbags with all the creed mis-spellings and the invalid "serial numbers" missing critical details were ever made by Coach!

Here are a few examples of Korean "Coach" creeds that sound like they were written by a third-rate translation program. This could never happen in any genuine Coach since COACH creates and owns the stamps for the creeds, not the plant. And where is the "No" abbreviation for "number"? Coach serial numbers are NEVER just 5 or 6 numbers, except for US-made items like bum bags and small travel items from the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics:

"LETELY natural"? "MarXings"? Click on the thumbnail to enlarge:

and paperwork from a fake LEATHER wallet made of "dented cloth". Love their "QUALITY CONTOL"!

There are thousands of these horrible fakes in circulation, and many more like this. If any seller insists that they are genuine, run away from them as fast as you can. Coach has never made handbags in Korea. NO exceptions.

That fake card that @Hyacinth posted is similar to some Dooney fake cards I've seen.

In fact, there was one just the other day in the "Authenticate this Dooney" subforum:

Dooney fake korean coa.jpeg

I also have a record of a matching/coordinating fake Coach box (from a fake wallet) that matches the card:
