Unfortunately the counterfeits are really really good. I have myself physically cut up two counterfeit bags That I purchased without checking here First. The other thing you can do is cut out the flap with the creed and use the bag yourself. Just don’t sell it as coach.

Ok, I see someone had already linked to my listing, which eBay took down. Thank you. It wasn't my intention to list a fake. I'm sure the person will be disappointed to hear about it, as am I.

FAKE.

The serial number has an invalid plant code, and I'm seeing indentations on the back of the turnlock. The binding or piping on the bag doesn't really match the bag's color, and that wasn't a feature of any Rambler's Legacy.
The other thing I noticed is the holes in the strap appear unusually close to each other. Are there any guidelines for these?

Help please

Not that I know of other than they should be the same distance apart as other bags in the same style and made in the same time period. I din't even pay any attention to them, and have never owned that style so it wouldn't have struck me anyway.

We never use strap details, or the details of any other part of a Coach bag that can be changed or replaced such as hangtags, as a primary proof that something is fake. As ADDITIONAL evidence sometimes, but never the primary proof. We need to depend on the integral and unchangeable parts of the bag like creeds, serial numbers, production codes, and construction details to tell us if it's real or not.

I was listing this purse on behalf of someone I knew, but someone messaged me via eBay saying it was a counterfeit and eBay took the listing down.

I don't know about Coach, but brief reading doesn't make anything stand out. As far as I know, this person bought it at a thrift store years ago. I don't want to sell someone a fake and risk my account. I also don't want to miss out if it is genuine.

The red flags aren't details that most owners would ever recognise as fake. That's why we always tell posters to authenticate Coach products here at tPF before buying and to NOT try to authenticate them on their own. Unless someone has a comprehensive list of the details and production dates of every Coach bag and every Coach factory, it's not the kind of thing anyone would spot. The non-Coach turnlock is also something that no one would know about unless they read this Authenticate This Coach thread every day and make and keep notes and photos.

Always use extreme caution when someone asks you to do them a favor and list their name-brand item. Most name brands are highly faked and often very well faked too, and the person asking for a favor may not realise it's fake. Unless someone bought a Coach bag directly from one of their brick-and-mortar stores or from what's absolutely one of only two real Coach websites, there's always a chance that it's counterfeit, even their retail selling partners like Macy's and Dillard's have been known to accept a returned fake bag and put it "back" into their inventory. The same with any other brand, from LeSportsac to Nike to Ralph Lauren to Louis Vuitton and all the way up - assume that every popular "designer" brand has been and still is being faked. Doing someone a favor isn't worth losing your Ebay selling privileges for.

Hi, hoping someone can help me authenticate this bag before I begin the process of dunking (which I've never done but just learned about on this forum - you guys are so helpful!)

Item: 4075 Bucket Bag
Where purchased or how obtained: Poshmark; seller apparently picked it up at a Goodwill
Comments: Photos are from the Poshmark listing; I am happy to provide additional photos if needed

Please read the IMPORTANT - READ ME post at the top of each page and include the actual link to the listing (Poshmark usually keeps those available long after the item has been sold) and also the seller name or ID as well as the rest if the required information.

Thank you for listing the issues. It’s no longer listed so I can’t go back to look. I had noticed the plant code but didn’t see the other issues. Thanks again.

The post right above yours includes the listing photos. You have to enlarge the photo of the bag with the flap open quite a but to see the turnlock indents, and you have to know what to look for.

May I have this looked at please...I seemed to have been missed.
Thank you again.

Please wait for either @whateve or @BeenBurned to look at it, I don't know diddly-squat about newer (i.e. made since about 2010) styles.

The best thing to do if your question was missed is to Reply to the original post and put BUMP in Bold caps in the body of the new post.
