Merry Christmas authenticators + everyone!

Am hoping to get your thoughts on this wallet, when you get a chance… since I’ve been reading this thread I feel like I have developed some baby antennae w/ respect to bags (especially the older ones), but wallets are a complete mystery to me still.

Item: Coach red envelope wallet (presumably leather)
Listing number: N/A
Seller / site where listed: tanyafly / poshmark
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-Red-Envelope-Wallet-61bb30706914126c649f427b

I did wonder about the zipper not being metal, but what do I know…. Also, curious about which model /approximately what year would this have been from?

Thanks in advance!
I don't recommend nor authenticate Poshmark listings for a number of reasons, among them being Poshmark's dreadful handling of fraud, allowing harassment of honest sellers by others who claim to be "Poshmark ambassadors", allowing the sale and refusal to remove fakes, denial of claims when buyers receive fakes, suspension of honest sellers because genuine items are alleged to be fake......the list goes on.

But I also can't tanyafly because the seller is a mixer. (Mixers list both genuine and fakes, thus buyers are apt to be fooled, thinking a seller is honest when that isn't the case.

Case in point: tanyafly has this fake:

As for the wallet in question, perhaps one of the other authenticators cares to comment.

I agree with BeenBurned's list of Poshmark offenses, not just because of their refusal to lift a finger to control the problem of illegal counterfeits being sold on the site (Posh is a US-based company and selling fakes in the US is a felony) and especially because the harassment of honest sellers whose only offense seems to be being PurseForum members has gotten completely out of control, with Poshmark and a small but vicious gang of interconnected PM members being the dominant offenders. Complaints have been filed with Poshmark management and besides one or two token and very short-term suspensions, nothing effective has been done. I'm on the verge of joining BeenBurned in refusing to authenticate items listed by Poshmark sellers, but that would put a very unfair burden both on the remaining authenticator(s) and many tPF members who buy snd sell on that site. But I'm still considering it as a possibility.

The wallet looks genuine and from right around 2000, but I don't know the exact name, sorry.

Also, Coach has often used nylon zippers in accessories as well as full-size handbags, going back as far as the late 1980s.

BeenBurned, Hyacinth, thank you for your honest opinions about Poshmark and the item in question.

One general question (pls disregard if it's considered off-topic for this thread), but I would love to get your opinions about where these sites fall relative to others w/ respect to %product which is likely authentic, for example (just making this up for purposes of illustration):

Moshpark (15% real) < Etsee < E-bae < ercari-May < Tradesey (50% real)

Obvs this by no means is a guarantee of any sort, and it's a snapshot at a single point in time, but for ppl like me who make the occasional online purchase, I think it's a helpful starting point.

The SAFEST place to buy of the sites you listed is Ebay, because they take fakes seriously. Sometimes they make mistakes and remove genuine items, but on their US site at least, fakes reported by experienced members are usually removed quickly. Fakes sold in or sent from other countries such as Japan and reported by members located in the US are much harder to get removed.

I haven't bought Coach items from the other sites unless I already knew and trusted the seller, so wait for more opinions.

The safest thing to do with any highly faked brand like Coach is to have the item authenticated here before you buy or commit to buy.

I'm not sure why you are using pig Latin or scrambling the names of the stites!

The issue with fakes and fraud isn't as much the percentage of fakes but rather, the sites' response to reports and disputes.

Although I haven't done business on all the. sites below on which I will opine, I do think my opinion is fair based on my experiences with reporting, authenticating and advising buyers and sellers and also based on what I see as the result of my reporting.

1. ebay - lots of fakes but as @Hyacinth stated, they do tend to be responsive to reports
2. Bonanza - Although this site gets very little traffic and many people aren't even aware of its existence (which I attribute to lack of advertising on their part), it's extremely safe and I can state that although I don't find a lot of fakes on the site (due to the lack awareness that the site exists), my estimate is that 99% of fakes I've reported have been removed and 100% of reports of potential fraud and scammers have been investigated and when fraud is found, action is taken within 48 hours.
3. Mercari - Lots of fakes but when reported by multiple users, they do get removed. For Mercari, it's a good idea to post on Hall of Shame threads in order to have multiple users report
4. Tradesy - Lots of fakes but although better than Poshmark in responding to reports, I find that Tradesy lags WAY behind Mercari, even when reported by multiple users.
5. Poshmark - the LAST site I recommend. My guess is that <10% of fakes I've reported have been removed. Sellers who have been kicked off ebay for having too many fakes open stores on Poshmark because they know they can get away with selling them there. There have been so many cases in which authentic items have been deemed fake and fakes deemed as authentic even after being sent to Poshmark for their hands-on "authentication."

ETA: The best recommendation is to verify authenticity of items on any site prior to purchasing or bidding and search the sellers' IDs on the forum to see if the seller has a reputation.

Various subforum brands here on TPF vary in whether they authenticate gifts, thrift, consignment, ended listings or help sellers stay honest. Here in Coach, the authenticators are willing to help sellers who post pictures to verify that they aren't going to sell a fake. (Sellers aren't allowed to post links to their own listings because it's considered self promotion, plus, they're supposed to know items are authentic BEFORE listing.)

Another thrifting find. Please and thank you for an opinion on authenticity. I think this bag is super cute! I did some research and it appears to be a "City Willis Crossbody Blue Multi Leather Handbag 70th Anniversary Collection." But I'm hoping you'll tell me! It measures about 12” X 7.5” X 3.25”. It has the wooden dowel across the top.

It's fine, made in 2012.
