So now I’m curious and testing my spotting skills. This one’s stands out as a fake to me - I can just feel it. Something about the texture, microcreasing, font, and whatever’s flaking off in this picture.

This is fake.

The fakes with this (invalid) serial number tend to be cheap materials (probagbly not leather) with the creed and serial number appearing to be carved into the material.

Well, I answered my own question. It’s the coach 9975 “curtis”. 7.5x11x3” and a 48” strap.

Also, I found another curtis and I’m thinking I’ll take one as a relatively unknown alternative to the rambler’s legacy. This one looks pretty authentic to me as well:

Ooh, and a tan one.

Might be too bright a tan for the large size. Anyone tall know how these mid-larger ~8x11” bags look on you? I don’t want anything too small but I also don’t want a laptop bag…

edit: on second thought that might not be it.

This one I can’t quite identify, but I’m leaning authentic:

Seller: 4012evam
Listing: 324388129987
Sorry, do you happen to also know what type it is? Or at least a hint. I don’t recognize it, but I like it. Appreciate the answer

Nice find! It's NOT from the 1960s or even 1970s as the seller claims. It's not a Curtis either, the Curtis is too recent, has a "coded" post-1994 serial number, and doesn't have the large underflap pocket. It's an Escort Bag, style 4016 from the Lightweight line and made in the early 1990s. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge.

Do you still need those Curtis Bags authenticated?

The number is also in the Daria48 Coach Fake Numbers Guide Pinned to the top of this thread right after the Salearea Coach Guides. I strongly urge you and anyone else who hasn't done so yet to read both of them and refer to them when needed.

"NT-4903 and Other Frequently-used Fake Coach Serial Numbers

"COACHES" WITH THESE NUMBERS ARE ALWAYS COUNTERFEIT - no exceptions:

'... These numbers on PURSES are always fake, these numbers belong only to Travel or Business items including Waistpacks (purses with style numbers beginning with 98xx or 99xx are usually genuine).

H4B-0511

H4B-0516

H4B-0678

H4B-0517 ... "

It's definitely NOT leather. It's "pleather", plastic or vinyl that chips and starts to deteriorate within a few years or a decade of purchase.

Ah, I’ll keep that in mind. I like to think I can spot real leather but I know it’s a crapshoot in online phone pictures. I’ve seen nice looking pleather in like a pebble grain or so, but I’ve never seen any that can match the matte glow of smooth leather. I shop for vintage shell cordovan shoes sometimes and it’s hilarious to see sellers try to pass off burgundy calf shoes with a bunch of creasing and wrinkling as shell. Once you know what it looks like, the way shell rolls instead of creasing is unmistakeable.

That said, if a fake is made of full grain leather and looks almost identical, I might as well, honestly - I’m not trying to impress anyone. Artisan/handmade/etc. leather bags on Etsy would cost at least a solid 50$ so if I get one for less that’s falsely labeled Coach, I don’t know if I’d be missing out. Would I?

The PurseForum community and its members take a strong stand against counterfeit goods. Only post images depicting authentic items. We NEVER recommend or condone buying fakes! Not only because of the legal issues - selling counterfeits in the US and most other countries is a felony and a violation of a company's Copyrights and trademarks. It's theft of their intellectual property and supports a huge criminal enterprise and it's never OK. It's not about impressing people. Someone carrying a fake with a company's legally protected brand name on it doesn't impress me in the slightest except in a very negative way.

Most counterfeits are also made in locations and conditions that violate US and international environmental protection and child labor laws. Many counterfeiting plants especially in Asia use very young children as slave labor. One book by a NY Times reporter told a of raid on a plant in one of those countries where very young children had their legs broken so they couldn't leave their machines or ask to go outside and play.

Interesting and eyeopening (and not in a good way) reading is "How Luxury Lost its Luster," by Dana Thomas.

Still haven’t figured out what that one was, but I found out the second bag I have is the 4153 Chelsea hobo bag. It’s unfortunately too short to use as a crossbody bag so we just use it as a utilitarian tote occasionally.

Also, I found another style I like - the 9145 legacy studio flap. Kind of a mix of the 9076 and the rambler legacy with a magnet clasp. And the perfect size for me.

I think I know the answer already, but is the following listing an authentic one?

Edit: just noticed the post below mine. I didn’t know the implications, so thank you for letting me know.

The bag is authentic, made in 2000 but the style is "well" faked so it's a good idea to verify before buying.

Genuine, made in 2000

I believe you shop at Saver's so I want to let you know that although they no longer allow exchanges on items other than clothing or shoes, I fought for the return of a fake LV after a professional authentication deemed it fake. They gave me a hard time but I insisted, citing the law.

Depending what you paid, it may be worth a fight.
Thank you so much

I saw multiple posts in this group for Coach but do not understand if mine is real or not. Please authenticate. I received five coach bags from a neighbor that was tossing them. This the first.
