IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

May I ask for some help authenticating this bag. It’s supposedly F43-9620 although the creed photo is very dark . Thanks!

Is there an online listing posted anywhere? The serial number as you posted it doesn't sound right. Please include ALL the information required in that READ ME post. If the bag is actually in your possession and was just bought recently, we still need to know where you acquired it. If you haven't bought it yet, we need to see the listing.

This is why we don't rely on people posting numbers without pictures. It is probably F4B not F43. I think it is probably authentic, but I would like to see a clearer, lightened picture of the creed. Can you use flash?

Item 2: mini tote
Listing number: n/a
Seller and site where listed: D&D's/ mercari
Link: https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m87078782120/
Comments: Please let me know if you need additional pictures. The leather on this seems to be very similar to the polished calfskin of the late '90's bridle top handle 6701 style also made in italy. I also saw other bags of this mini tote style indicating a pearlized nappa leather.

Your assistance in authenticating and any additional information about these two items are very much appreciated. Thank you!

I don’t own it, I’m merely considering it.
I did not put the listing on because I read somewhere that you will not authenticate for Poshmark so I didn’t bother with it. Hyacinth asked for it though so here is the listing. Unfortunately no more information than I already have but it now allows someone else to go in and buy it out from under me.

I believe I'm the only authenticator who rarely makes exceptions to my decision not to authenticate for or promote Poshmark, Avoiding disclosing where a listing is posted as a way to circumvent doesn't go over well (with me)!

Since you've found posts that indicate problems with Poshmark, I needn't go into my reasons but suffice it to say that there are many valid concerns and cases of buyers, sellers and innocent Poshmark users getting shafted there.

I will finally add that if someone else chooses to comment on the listing, a brighter and clearer picture of the creed is needed.

The serial number looks like F4B-9620, and it's a genuine Compact Pouch and was made in 1994.

Individual authenticators here at tPF can choose to not authenticate items from certain sellers or websites, but another authenticator might not. While I don't refuse to authenticate Poshmark items, there are several problematic sellers on Posh and other websites who I will absolutely NOT authenticate for, and my reasons can usually be found somewhere in this forum thread. Anyone wanting to know them will usually be directed to posts explaining why.

We don't recommend buying from Poshmark in general because of their HORRIBLE track record including not removing reported and obvious fakes, allowing unqualified seller-members to decide whether or not something's genuine (and being wrong much of the time!) and Posh's frequent refusal to refund when someone's bought a fake. So NOT having a Posh item authenticated by QUALIFIED authenticators is just plain dangerous. And the Rules for authenticating items here are set out in the READ ME post, we have very good reasons for requiring every bit of information asked for in the Rules.

As for someone buying something out from under you, that's the chance you take. Your other option is to not get it authenticated and very possibly getting stuck with a fake and not being able to get your money back. Which is safer? You can usually eventually find a similar bag if someone else grabs it ahead of you, but if you can't get your money back, you're usually SOL.

The first is a genuine Sonoma Natural Grain made in Summer 1996

There are scans of many of Coach's catalogs from the 1980s through the 1990s at the main Coach forum, Coach Reference Library sub-forum. Look for the VINTAGE COACH CATALOGS thread and find the catalog date closest to the date the bag was made. Most, but not all, of the bags from that time period will be in the catalogs

Style 6152 is a genuine Pearlized Bleecker Bag made in late 1999.

Happy Holidays

Could I please get this court bag authenticated when time allows. This was purchased at a church sale. The bag measures 9 1/4" x 7.5" X 3.

Thank you

Thank you so much, Hyacinth! :flowers:

I appreciate that you do authenticate for PM finds, despite the many concerns with its business policies/practices. Usually when I find something on ebay, mercari, or poshmark, I then try to find the picture of the style and see if the other resale sites have that style also available. It's often an issue of pricing, pictures provided, condition of the listed item, seller feedback, and shipping costs. Sometimes PM only has the item, like that gorgeous canvas python tote, or the price / condition / shipping ends up being the best for me. I don't get to thrift stores locally, since when I did go in the past, the variety isn't very good, and gas is so expensive these days. Online thrifting is my current hobby.... Thank you!

ETA: thank you for the info for the catalogs. Lol, that might just feed the monster more.
