Poor guy. He might have no idea this bag screams “I’m a fake!” I’m no expert but the hardware alone is questionable. The leather has the typical grain of pleather.

Seller, joejohn5579

The most recent listing is gone. Earlier listings showing the fake just keep reverting to a "Lexington" from another seller. The joejohn5579 fake with the 308-9875 always-fake serial and "marXings" seems to have finally been yanked.

Update. The shopgoodwill people asked me basically to "prove it" that the bag was counterfeit. What did I think was wrong with it, they asked. "Please advise." I gave them a list, from the YE...creed to the "non-quality" of the leather, to the signature fabric inside and out, the trinket-y hardware, and etc. I asked again for my money back. It's not a lot of money, but now they've got me irritated. I said "Please advise how quickly you will return my money for the bag, tax, and shipping."
That's awful and rude!

Hello! I found this Coach Willis at a pawn shop and would like to make sure it’s authentic. The bag measures 10 x 9 x 3.

Thank you whateve! The context is super helpful.

To the thread in general: I've got another authentication request I'd like to get y'all's opinion on please. (I may have been window shopping a lot today...) Here are the details:

Item: Penny / Pocket Purse 9755
Seller: cristinamoda
Etsy Listing: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1098940051/vintage-coach-pocket-purse-9755-british

Let me know if you have any questions and many thanks in advance!

Hi authenticators, just wanted to bring up this request again. (I hope it's ok.) I think it may have gotten lost in the shuffle since my post was initially hidden by the moderator and then the link became outdated. Here's the updated info:

Item: Penny / Pocket Purse 9755
Seller: cristinamoda
Poshmark listing: https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintage-Coach-Pocket-Purse-9755-British-Tan-6160f2247457ad4664ba7f0a
Comments: Searched for creed number (Is this the same as searching item #?) and didn't get hits in this thread but there was an old one from about 10 years ago for a different version, though pics were fuzzy. Would be super appreciative to get your advice since I need to confirm if I accept the order in 3 days. Please and thanks in advance!

Authentic pocket purse. It is not a penny. When searching for styles, only use the digits after the dash in the creed number. The style number of this bag is 9755. If you search that, you should find plenty.

The item number that we ask for in authentications is a unique number that identifies the listing. It's easy to find on ebay and some other sites. They aren't visible on Poshmark or Mercari so you can ignore that part of the request.

Comparing one bag to a similar bag can never prove authenticity, every Coach needs to be looked at and compared only to known genuine bags of the same style, plant, and if possible, month and year. It's not something that a buyer who's not an experienced authenticator should do on their own.

By "creed number" I think you mean "creed and serial number". Those are the two stampings shown in the last photo of the Poshmark listing (the creed statement inside the border and the stamped number under it are two separate stampings in older bags) and are a critical part of Coach authentications. The photo of those details in the listing indicates that the bag you're asking about is a genuine Pocket Purse, style 9755 and made in the US in 1995. BTW, "listing numbers: refer mostly to Ebay listings, other sites such as Poshmark don't usually refer to listings by number.

There is a huge amount of information about important details like creeds and serial numbers as well as Coach's history posted in the "Salearea Guides" thread that's Pinned at the top of each page in this Coach Shopping forum that has an index. It's long and complicated and really needs multiple careful readings for everything in it to start making sense, but unlike at least 95 percent of the misinformation about Coach found on the internet, it's accurate and mostly up to date. The Daria48 Coach Fake Numbers List posted after it is also a good reference tool. Some links in the first 13 posts in the Salearea Guides section are no longer working so don't be concerned with them, just take your time and concentrate on the rest. Click on the red text at the top of the link box below to go to that thread.

Welcome to tPF!
