Item: vintage Coach Soho belted pouch
Seller and site where listed: I am the seller, it is currently listed on Mercari and Posh, but will take down immediately if fake.
Purchased: from Mercari
Measurements: 8.5”Hx7”Wx5.5”D
Comments: A reputable member of the community has questioned its authenticity and now I’m second guessing. Creed is faded -it has been dunked. I have reinforced the stitching on the belt loops by hand. The rivet on the back I believe indicates it is fake, could it have been added by a previous owner? ‍♀

It's fake.

The READ ME instructions at the top of each page in this forum also say regarding the photos we need:

• "For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read"

You're not showing this important detail but with what I see in the serial number, you don't have to although it would just be additional confirmation. Sadly you already spent time and effort on it that could have been avoided. The serial number shows a plant code that doesn't match the plant details shown in the creed stamp OR in my photo files. Both before and after the dates shown in the serial number, that plant was making ONLY a very limited line of leather and fabric luggage. And the rivet on the back of the belt shouldn't be there but was probably put there by the counterfeiter, not a previous owner. That shade of green is also a problem. There are also problems with certain stitching details and with at least one section of the construction of the bag itself. There are even problems with the strap.

And although color discrepancies can hardly ever be used as proof, there are NO pale green shades anywhere in any 1996 catalogs for the Soho line, and not in late 1995 either. Light green doesn't appear until Spring 1997 and then it's a yellowish-green called Lime, not at all what's shown in your photos.

Whoever questioned that bag's authenticity was correct. I hope you can still get your money back.

Sorry but the bag is fake. The rivet on the back isn't the only problem. The serial number vs. the creed text are wrong too. The plant code contradicts the creed text.
