Not feeling good about this bag. I swear it was discussed in the Coach forum multiple times and now I can't find any of the mentions. I received it today and my fake radar is pinging.

Vintage Coach Bonnie Cashin Watermelon Big Mouth Kisslock Leather Shoulder Bag

Item #-224547049985

I read a few discussions of mentions on here of bags that turned out to be fakes that were removed and am wondering if this was one.

Any time you think some details are setting your radar "pinging" it would be a BIG help if you could explain what those details are. Because even though I'm not an expert on pre-creeds I'm not seeing anything "pingable". And my crystal ball is in the repair shop. :graucho:

Please wait for @whateve to take a look. Maybe she's familiar with those reported fakes.

It's very lightweight. No grommets around the holes on the strap. No Coach insignia. And, to me this is surprising, it doesn't open--no zipper, nothing. Just the 'big mouth' opens. I'm hoping I'm just naive about these early bags but I have two others that are not at all like this.

Did you take TWO photos of the creed, one at a 90-degree angle from the other? That might be a workaround for the photos that keep showing up sideways. Whatever you did, it seems to work.

Genuine style 4931, Small Drawstring Nubuc from 1994

There's a Coach cartouche in one of the photos. Third one from the top, right above the kisslock in the photo. It's worn down but I'd be worried if it wasn't.

That design with just the kisslock opening and no access at the top seems to have been a legitimate style, I've seen them here before. And not having a top zipper or grommets is helping keep the weight down.

And not all bags had straps with grommets.

Again, wait for @whateve

I am definitely waiting for @whateve and happy to see the Coach cartouche on the bag. Somehow this triggered a tremendous amount of anxiety for me but I'm coming back down now.

Comment: If authentic, is this actually vintage? Does the box and tag actually belong to this case? Any info available - catalog, etc.

Genuine. The style number, font used in the Coach stamp on the front, lining, and all the other details seem to indicate that all the pieces are from the same time, very late 1990s or early 2000s. The seller's date of 2002 is probably correct. And I have the number right before it, 6989, as a Large Cosmetic Case. IF it was made in 2002 it will be vintage next year.

The link seems to be to your own receipt page and you're the only one who can access that. This is the public link:

It's a genuine Girlie Nappa Hobo from 2001. I've seen the name "Ashton" used before by sellers but that's not the official Coach name shown in the catalog.

Sorry about the link. I am using my phone and tech challenged! Appreciate your clarification on the model and confirmation!
This bag came on my radar recently as I was intrigued by the lambskin. It is an adorable bag and super soft.

Yes, Coach didn't make many Nappa Lamb bags and most of those were from the early to mid 2000 decade like this one, but the leather was sooooo soft and scrumptious.

Thank you so much Hyacinth for sharing your time and knowledge with me. I did take 2 photos of the creed, one with and one without flash. I posted both just in case. I still have no idea why my photos are sideways and upside down. I am just very happy that the authenticators seem to tolerate this. :flowers:
