That bag looks familiar, I remember the badly-aligned turnlock and the always-fake serial number M4N-4154 that's listed in the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List posted right after the six Salearea Guides. I'm pretty sure I'm also seeing "SCRTCHES" in the creed.

Yep, it was listed in the Hall Of Shame just yesterday. All I did was search here for the seller's name ' twinsmonster ':

REMEMBER to use the Forum's Search feature! It can save you - AND us! - a lot of time and maybe even money.
Omg… Thank you so much!

Dear Authenticators,

Could you kindly authenticate this bag for me.
Item: Tan Top Handle Bag (sorry I do not know the name of the style/model)
Purchased: at a benefit auction event in the Philippines
Measurements: about 11.5 x 8 x 4.7 inches

Thanks for your help!

Dear authenticators,
Could you also authenticate this Coach bag?
Item: Vintage Coach Crossbody
Seller: Tyferman (Poshmark)
Link: https://posh.mk/qOp5r9wjZgb
Comments: My offer was just accepted by the seller. Hope to get authentication before final payment. Thank you in advance!

It seems ok, and although the serial number is hard to read there don't seem to be any problems. Casey Bag from maybe 1995 but the year code is really hard to see.

It's a genuine Bleecker Satchel, style 9303 and made in 1999.

Can these be authenticated. Purchased at garage sales. As always thanks for your time.

Is it normal that it doesn't have a serial number on the creed?

Yes.

Please read the Salearea Guides for Creed and Serial Number information:

# 1, 2, and 4 are good. Please post photos of the 2 white tags in the wallet, the numbers tag and the Made In tag, and wait for someone experienced in newer styles.

By George, I think I've got it!

The problem is that the only place I've been able to find it is in the Spring 1991 paper catalog on page 35 but it's not in any of the 50th Anniversary or 1991 Holiday catalogs. Apparently it's one of those very short-lived styles where if you blinked, you missed it. But thanks to you we now have more photos. I can't post the catalog pic since we don't have a scanner, but if you just look at it quickly it looks a lot like the Envelope Portfolio. Maybe that's why it didn't stay around long.

The style number is 5091 and it was called a Hampshire Brief. The description says:
"Full length outside back pocket. Full length front pocket under leather-lined flap.Inside zipper pocket.Hidden magnetic snap closure, 16 1/2 x 11 x 4 inches. Black, British Tan, Burgundy, Mahogany. $292."

ETA - It's also one of those oddball items where the Coach plant that made it extended the use of the old 3+4 serial number format into 1991 and 1992 even though everyone else had changed to the new 4+3 system very early in 1990.

How in the WORLD did you track this down?!? This is some serious sleuthy detective work! I can’t begin to express how grateful and thrilled I am to put a name to this bag!

What a completely odd and interesting back story. I love these bits of history; to know this bag is the product of a plant that did it’s own thing for a while is so fun.

It’s a really great bag—in need of some serious cleaning, definitely going to be tapping the knowledgeable folks over in the rehab thread for this one—and is roomy and sturdy enough for my encased iPad Pro, a large sketchbook, and other professional bits and pieces. I can see the rolled straps slipping off the shoulder in the Hampshire; the Envelope Flap may have had a leg up with its flat straps and the support they provided by wrapping under a heavy load. The two absolutely look identical otherwise!

@Hyacinth thank you so so much! I’m thrilled!

I had to go through my older catalogs twice before I found it, since at first I just looked for bags made before 1990 because of the 3+4 serial number. Then I tried the 1990 thru 1993 catalogs because of those oddball serial numbers we've found, and managed to find it hiding in a corner of a catalog page with desk accessories and business card cases.

The straps definitely look like they could be a problem. Flat straps are the only way to go. The Hampshire, as the saying goes, looks like "the answer to a question that no one had asked". :graucho: It looks like they abandoned the double strap Flap design completely right after that and didn't make anything similar until the Equestrian version for early 1998, unless I missed spotting any in the catalogs.
