I had to go through my older catalogs twice before I found it, since at first I just looked for bags made before 1990 because of the 3+4 serial number. Then I tried the 1990 thru 1993 catalogs because of those oddball serial numbers we've found, and managed to find it hiding in a corner of a catalog page with desk accessories and business card cases.

The straps definitely look like they could be a problem. Flat straps are the only way to go. The Hampshire, as the saying goes, looks like "the answer to a question that no one had asked". :graucho: It looks like they abandoned the double strap Flap design completely right after that and didn't make anything similar until the Equestrian version for early 1998, unless I missed spotting any in the catalogs.
That's amazing detective work, that was a real process! I love that you have these old catalogs; I used to save these things (I'm a graphic designer and appreciate old print), but my husband is a minimalist. But you know how to track down the information you need, it's so darn cool!

Agreed on the straps (and quote ), so we'll see how it goes. For me, it's mostly going to be a transport to car/transport from car situation, but this would drive me nuts if I was commuting by subway or foot. And, given COVID, let's be real...right now this is more of a transport from office to couch, from couch to deck, laptop storage deal. :whut:

It's authentic. It is a duffle sac but made with lighter weight leather. It was made 2011. The style number is shown in the creed.
