It's close enough, as long as I can read the number and see the font. It's a genuine Equestrian Drawstring from 1997

Exactly. Remember, styles as such can't be copyrighted. There may be a very few exceptions especially from a few French makers but in general anyone can copy a style, whether of handbags, clothing, jewelry, etc. The difference between a knockoff and a counterfeit is that the counterfeit has the trademarked name on or in it of the company that originally made it, but that company didn't make that particular item and their trademarks are being violated.

Whether or not a 2nd-tier company made their copycat items in the same plant as the company they're copying from doesn't mean a thing, whether it's true or not (and most of the time it's not).

Of course, if a case like that goes in front of a judge, all bets are off, it can depend on how good each side's lawyers are.

Hi Been Burned and Whateve. Thank You so much. I can't return, as everything is final sale. But only cost me $2 and I take it as a learning opportunity. I thought it was questionable, just didn't have that vintage feel but it's a good bag for the price and maybe I will experiment with embellishing it. Thanks to you both again.

Well I have been super curious to see if Coach would be altering the Coach creed or reg# in any way on their refurbished bags. And I found this! Have any authenticators seen any of the Coach website refurbished bags? Eta - or from a pop up?

The bag on etsy is authentic, although I believe the snaps were added after market.

For the bag with the glued in creed, I'm seeing an issue. Can you take pictures of the ends of the zippers, showing the end of the pockets?

A no refund/no return policy is out the window when it comes to the sale of illegal items. And whether the store knowing sells a fake or isn't aware is irrelevant. They were required (by law) to verify authenticity before putting items on the sales floor.

(This isn't to say that stores do that; only that that's the law.)

But for $2, you can probably make use of the leather for tassels or patching.

I've never seen them but I think it's strange that they call the style number 245 when the bag is clearly 9085!
