Without any solid proof that it was purchased from a Coach store, I'm very uncomfortable with it. Why a patch GLUED onto a leather pocket? It doesn't make any sense. I've not only never seen a leather patch glued onto a pocket, but it also looks like each of the large inside panels is a different color leather and the side with the "creed" looks like 3 different shades of tan (maybe it's the lighting), and the 2 inside zip pockets have 2 different zipper pulls.

You might want to wait until @whateve is available, there are just too many things setting off my alarm bells. How did you acquire that bag, and when? Or is it from a current listing?

Sorry, it looks like a Frankenstein bag to me, as if it's been pieced together from several different sources.
The bag on etsy is authentic, although I believe the snaps were added after market.

For the bag with the glued in creed, I'm seeing an issue. Can you take pictures of the ends of the zippers, showing the end of the pockets?
We've been away on vacation with minimal computer time so I'm late in catching up to this discussion.
This bag brought back a memory I had forgotten. I was in a luggage store in the early-mid 90's and I was looking a Laura USA brief bag, in the style of a Metropolitan. I had been at a department store before that looking at Coach bags. I was impressed with the quaulity of the Laura USA brief, given it was less than half of the Coach price. The sales lady said they were essentially made in the same factory as Coach. From reading that the leather workers belonged to a union, and from reading here that when demand increased sharply for Coach bags after '93 and Coach probably contracted out work to other leather goods plants (let me know if I got that right) I know understand how something can look very close to a Coach and be made from quality leather, but not be Coach.

I don't know whether @whateve expressed an opinion yet but based on the pictures, my (uneducated) opinion is that the bag appears to me that it's not made by Coach and someone used a creed from a different bag and glued it in to this tote.
1. The creed is a different color and texture than the pocket it's attached to
2. The creed seems to be glued to the pocket without any stitching holding it there. Although Coach used glued on patches for serial numbers and we've seen how they frequently fall off, I doubt they'd ever glue a full creed because if that creed fell off, there's nothing to prove the bag was Coach.

Again, my opinion is that the bag was not made by Coach and someone used a creed from a different bag and glued it in to this tote.

But you posted on the authentication thread, which when posting there IS what you're asking. Although you claim the bag was purchased from Coach, unless you personally bought it, you don't know for sure where it came from. And if you WERE the original purchaser, you would have said that.

My suggestion to you is that unless @whateve or @Hyacinth confirm otherwise, I wouldn't advise trying to sell it unless you remove that patch that someone glued on! (I don't think this was a "prototype" as your "friend" believes.)

JMHO!
I suspect she won't be back to supply the pictures I requested. My first impression was the same as yours, that the patch was just put on by someone trying to pass off a generic bag as vintage Coach. I was hoping to get more evidence to either support or change my original opinion. I also don't believe the bag is old enough to be pre serial number if it was authentic.

Thank you for those accurate and spot on insights! That completely went over my head!!

I am reminded a few years ago, after I bought a Monterey Hobo, I saw a bag that appeared to be constructed exactly like one, with quality leather, but no Coach branding whatsoever. The same for a bag that was constructed like a Legacy Zip, also with no branding that I saw at a flea market last year.

Hi Authenticators,
This is my first purchase from shopsalvationarmy and I'm very happy with their service so far. Now, I would love your opinion on the bag.
Ps. It doesn't have a creed but I took a picture of the made in tag. I appreciate any help. Thank you!

Item Name: Coach Purse Bag (F50430?)

Hi and welcome back ladies. I hope you had a nice vacation. I posted this bag while you were gone so I think it's buried in the "not vintage" pile. Lol. I hate to be a bother but I do appreciate your help very much. Thank you!! Ps. I searched the forum for this number and found a similar one so I'm hopeful it's ok.
Thanks again!!

There were quite a few companies a decade or two ago copying Coach styles. I remember that the Coach Screed page even had photos of some. Ann Taylor I think was one of them that used their own name but copied the bags closely.

Can you please authenticate? I think the creed is H7D-9804 or H7B-9804, but it’s a little gunked over and out of focus. If this is authentic, is this an Equestrian Bag or another style? Thank you in advance!

I don't see a creed photo at all and I'm not comfortable even comparing it by name to a genuine Coach. There are just too many fake "Equestrian" ripoffs in circulation. If you can supply a readable photo of the creed and serial number I'll take a look.

Hi all~

I'm going through some bags I've had for a very long time---and some I haven't---and I'd appreciate an authentication for this bag:View attachment 5096258View attachment 5096257View attachment 5096250View attachment 5096252View attachment 5096253View attachment 5096255View attachment 5096256View attachment 5096248View attachment 5096249View attachment 5096251

I do not recall where I purchased it....most likely a thrift store or garage/estate sale. It measures 9" W x 4 3/4" H x 2" D with a 23" strap drop.

Thanks so much!!

Genuine, I think it's a genuine Zippered Pouch, style 9655, from the early to mid-1980s - Nice!

I pulled out the photo with the creed, cropped and brightened the image to accentuate the stamping. It's still a really poor image with white gunk in some of the lettering (and now it looks like a something from a criminal file), but I’m sharing it and the others from the auction in case this actually is enough for you to work from. I completely understand if this is still not enough visual information to authenticate, since that depends on the quality of what has been been provided.

I understand that this bag might not be a Coach at all, but is the name of a 9804 an Equestrian? I saw someone calling that number a Drawstring Tote or a maybe a Thompson, but those buckles seemes different. I also saw something with the same type of front pocket and drawstring as this listing called an Equestrian. I liked the shape and size of that bag.
