Many if not most Swingpacks from that "burnished leather" period in the early to mid 2000 decade didn't have serial numbers.
Thanks Hyacinth! This is good to know because I just received a Goodwill mystery box today with 3 (not so great) Coach bags inside. Of course, one was a very sad and ripped swingpack without a serial number. Doh. Lol.

Awesome! Do you know why there is no creed number though? Is there a specific time period that no serial number was made?
When they first started using creeds, there were no numbers. I believe it is in the Salearea guides. Your bag is a skinny tote #9546 made in the mid to late 70s. I don't know exactly when this style first appeared but the first catalog picture I have of your bag is dated 1978. I suspect yours was made a year or two earlier.

Hello Authenticators,
Could you please tell me if this Taft bag is authentic. I purchased it from a thrift store.

I'm sorry, but it's fake. That serial number prefix "K3H-" is ALWAYS fake, no exceptions. There's at least one other problem I'm seeing and I haven't even looked at all the photos yet. You need to take it back and insist on a full refund, or at least a full credit.

ETA - Make that TWO other problems, both with the bag's hardware, things like buckles, turnlocks, etc.

Thank you so much Hyacinth. Unfortunately they do not offer returns. Off to the trash bin this will go. Thank you again.

The Salearea guides, I have heard that come up before, but I did not know what it was. What a treasure trove of helpful information. Thank you! I am going to stock up on my snacks and start reading.

Also read the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List and its updates that follow the Salearea Guides. Many but not all of the most frequently used fake serial numbers especially in classsic and vintage bags are listed there.
