Wow, that's a coincidence!

That bag and creed are almost identical to one I posted yesterday. The one I posted had a scrambled prefix (not in the "correct" order) but nothing else on the bag appeared to be wrong.

@Hyacinth responded in the next post.

And your creed vs. the one I'd posted:

I know! Super coincidence! I only read your post about DR bags this morning. Is this a real one? Thank you BeenBurned! ETA trying to find your posts to re-read ETA 3FZ and mine F3Z!!!

Comments: I’ve requested a picture of the creed be added on this one.

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!
Be sure to include the seller's ID in requests.

1. seller introvintage (Depop) - Looks fine.

2. seller SamiranaTreasures (Etsy) - Seller has a history of mixing on various sites. The bag in question is authentic but beware, she still mixes.
This is another of her listings, a very obvious fake: https://www.etsy.com/listing/912790102/vtg-coach-tribeca-shoulder-bag-bucket?ref=shop_home_active_4
Beware of SamiranaTreasures on Etsy, Ana C Longoria on Mercari, australianmist-7 on Ebay and dandav8855 on ebay.

3. seller Rabbitinatree (Etsy) - There's no creed picture. The bag can't be authenticated.

That number format was used from the late 70s to the late 80s. If you have a bag with a number and a NYC creed, it could be from the 70s but is more likely from the 80s. In the late 80s, Coach opened up a second plant besides the NYC plant. They kept the same number format but now bags said 'Made in the United States" rather than "Made in New York City." With these creeds you can't tell if the bag was made in NYC or at the second plant. The bag you bought has a Made in the United States creed, which dates it between 1988 and 1993. In 1994, they started using the current format with plant codes and date codes. You can identify those because they always start with a letter.
Thank you as well @whateve ...I write this down everytime but for some reason always forget.

Thank you BeenBurned!! I will do that. Also, the fake has solid brass on the buckles whereas the real ones I have do not. Is that significant?

Except for a tiny handful of bags from the 2000-2004 time period with Costa Rica creeds, no bags made after about 1992 should have "solid brass" on the buckles, and they are probably only on genuine bags from the Dakota and possibly Sheridan pebbled leather lines. "Solid brass" hardware had been phased out during the 1980s although the exact time period isn't known.

You have to be very careful though, there may be exceptions. For instance there are a few very late Costa Rica bags from 2004 that only have the number "4" as the year code instead of the "04" that they should have. We've seen probably less than 10 genuine late production Costa Rica bags with apparently genuine solid brass buckles, maybe some closed plant found a handful of the buckles somewhere in a storage room and passed them on the the CR plant which might have been the only Coach plant in the Western Hemisphere that was still open, but that's just a wild guess on my part. There are NO hard and fast rules to depend on.

And there may also be fake Sheridan and Dakota styles with "solid brass", many of which were made during that period especially in Korea. Every single bag that might fall into one of those groups should always be authenticated here before buying, and if pre-purchase authentication isn't possible, DON'T BUY IT. It's not worth the risk.

ANY stampings on buckles, turnlocks or other hardware except for zipper pulls should always be included in photos, especially if the zipper pulls are stamped "COACH". Of course it's not neccessary to take photos of "YKK" zipper pulls or mechanisms.

Ok! Thank you Hyacinth! Will keep this in mind for future authentication requests.
