You're missing a picture of the front of the bag. When we ask for the back of the turnlock, we mean the back of the female portion. The creed is mostly unreadable.

woops, here it is. I am unable to get a clearer shot of the creed, it is barely legible in person either.

It's authentic. It is a Halsey bag #4121, part of the Lightweights collection, made around 1992.

Is this authentic ?? At the goodwill.

Please wait for other opinions, but I believe it's authentic. And OLD. Early to mid 70s maybe? I wonder if the strap attachment was repaired by Coach, or maybe by a leather repair shop. I've never seen FOUR rivets on one before. The top zipper leather pull tab also might be a replacement.

WHATEVE, please take a look. Thanks!

ETA - RLBernstein posted this a few years ago about the early Duffle Sacs:

"I recently stumbled upon an old COACH adverts that seem to show that the earliest style #9085 was indeed made with a central seam and sewn-on tabs and that the style was modified at some later date to the configuration that everyone is used to seeing. I suspect that the change happened early on since I've seen photos of pre-creed (metal tag) Duffle Sacs made using the later design. It wouldn't surprise me if they discovered within the first year that the sewn-on tabs were insufficient for this size bag. "

first version Duffle Sac (probably from 1972). This version (with the riveted on buckle tabs, the finished (no binding) lower seam, and no interior pocket) was made for only a couple of seasons (initially with a exterior metal tag and subsequently with similarly located cartouche imprint). It was replaced with the second design iteration (which had the body seam rotated midway between the riveted buckle tabs, a bound lower seam, and an interior slip pocket with cartouche imprint as shown in Hyacinth's posting's photos). That version also was made for only a limited amount of time and was in turn succeeded by the version of the #9085 Duffle Sac as we know it today (vertical seams aligned with integrated roll-over buckle tabs and a bound lower seam"

I believe it is fine. Didn't I already authenticate it? I think the rivets were only brass plated and the plating has worn off on most of them.

Not officially. I’ve just been sending you the pics through rehab :)

Brass plating makes sense. It doesn’t seem like the rivets vary in any other aspect aside from the color.

Thanks for the date and additional info, Hyacinth! I suspected as much regarding the pull tab. It is really stiff and doesn’t feel to me like Coach leather or shape but things change over the years, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. As discussed with Whateve in the rehab forum, this leather is quite a bit thinner than my 9085. We weren’t sure on color names. Are there any records of color charts for the early 70s or is that asking too much?

You may have done but I don't remember. I'm just tickled to find something almost 50 years old. It's in better shape than I was at 50!
Haha! I was pretty tickled myself. If you’d like any other pics, let me know! Here are some developments from rehab:
Interesting to see the differences between this one and the 9085. For your viewing pleasure. Bath time!
This leather is much more floppy than my 9085 as well. It just collapses. I applied three coats of CPR to the strap last night immediately after dunking and it was absorbed by the time I made it from one set of rivets to the other. It just soaked it up! Then I patted the bag dry and let it sit on my lap on a towel with another towel resting in the bottom of the duffle and spread two coats of CPR over the bag and it absorbed quickly as well. Stuffed it with two large towels and applied another coat of CPR on the bag and strap this morning. Thirsty gal! It has certainly darkened in color but there aren’t any golden or red hues like BT.

Pic collapsing after bath time. The leather feels thinner and more worn than both of my USA bucket bags, Helen’s and duffle sac.

Does anyone know a date range and color options for this? Early 70s?
