Could I please get authentication on these 2 bags I found at the thrift store? Crossing my fingers both are legit!
Small black bag measures about 8x5.5x2
Larger mahogany Patricia bag measures about 11x8.5x4

Item: Vintage Duffle
Seller quickshipem

The creed is close to impossible to read. I think the first 3 are C8D. (I did try putting powder on it and it didn't help). Measurements are approx 11"H x 7"across the base x 12"across middle of the flattened bag. Would you also tell me the name of the duffle if you can. Thanks a million!
I think it's okay.

The style number looks like it's 9019 which would be a Maggie duffle.

I'm sorry but both are fake.
Crapola!!
There's no way I'd keep them. They weren't supposed to sell fakes (whether they know it's fake or not) and if they aren't willing to give a cash refund, you should at least demand credit for exchanges.

Hi all,
I hope you're having a good day. I was wondering if someone can check out this bag for me. I bought it from shopgoodwill for myself because I like patent leather bags but this is not what I expected. This one doesn't feel the same as my others so I'm wondering what the heck did I buy. I googled it and saw others but I'm thinking I better ask the experts. Ps. I hope it's ok that I'm attaching screenshots from the original online posting. Thank you!!

Item: Coach 18674 Poppy Liquid Gloss Large Tote Black Handbag

Purchased from Shopgoodwill.com

Size: (L) 16 x (H) 10 x (W) 6 inches

Thank you again!

That's because it's NOT patent leather, regardless of what its mostly clueless sellers call it. Coach's "Liquid Gloss" is their term for a VINYL-COATED FABRIC made to look like but not hold up like genuine "patent leather" which is actually supposed to be real leather, not vinyl. The bag is genuine Coach, but it's plastic.

Coach has never been upfront about the actual material other than a few mentions of its composition soon after it was introduced, and which seemed to disappear from their website as the styles became popular.

BTW, we still prefer to see actual functioning links to listings. I'd like to see exactly how Goodwill described the material.

ETA - Nordstrom in one of their online listings actually described a different style made with the Liquid Gloss materail as "Patent fabric" but that's the only half-truth about it that I was able to find whan I looked for the description of the material a few years later. Even Coach's website had removed their description. If Goodwill described it as "leather", that's deceptive, just like it is in hundreds of other listings for bags of the same fabric. If you can, get your money back if you don't want a plastic bag.

This is style 18678, just 4 numbers away from the style number of your bag. Click on the thumbnails to open.

I had a feeling you would know the history of this bag. Thank you so much for this information. After I saw your reply I thought omg I had a Poppy bag just like this that I didn't like either. Oh well. Live and learn. I will send the links next time too. Ps. I only paid $4.99 plus shipping so I think they knew what they were doing. Me, not so much. I'm definitely still learning. Pss. I do like the Nordstrom better. Thanks for sharing.

I still can't get over the fact that they have faux leather bags. I think I'm in shock right now. I think I'll stick with the vintage and legacy bags for myself from now on but I'm thinking of posting this on ebay for the same price I paid and post it as faux leather so I can avoid return shipping fees. Maybe someone else would like it?? I dunno.

For $4.99 it's still a cute bag, but Coach should have been a lot more open about exactly what that material is. If you search "Coach Liquid gloss" on any selling site, almost every listing uses the word "leather" in the description, and that's Coach's fault.

At least you know that you don't have to worry about getting it wet.

ETA - And Goodwill actually lucked out and got the description right. "Unknown" is probably the best way of describing that fabric!
