I'll fall back on one of my classic suggestions on what to do with a fake. If you have any young girls in the family, just write "FAKE" across the creed or serial number with a Sharpie and give it to them to use when they play Dress Up. You can always tie a knot in the strap if it's too long. (Am I really dating myself here? Do little girls still play Dress Up?)
When @Hyacinth made this post with a suggestion we've made many times over the years, I knew I'd seen a recent listing for what I believe is a genuine Gucci bag but with the strangest pattern, one I would NEVER in a million years buy!

Why would Gucci think this is a good idea? And look at the price!

Gucci makes some nice bags... this, I don't get lol :wtf:

Personally, I have more of a problem with sellers who mix vs. sellers who only sell fakes. IMO, mixers are more dangerous because buyers trust them and don't realize that there's a mix. (There aren't any current fakes at this time in her listings; just pointing out that there have been problems.)

Agree! That’s why it’s so important to get any potential purchases checked here first. And I know it’s been said many times, but thank you to all the experts here that are helping us buyers and sellers out!

I can't read the creed or the serial number at all! I'm not sure whether the seller was able to read it or if she just copied the number from another listing that looked similar.

Please request a better and more legible picture of the creed.

This made me laugh. (Pet peeve: While I appreciate good pictures, it offends to imply that I'm too dumb to look at pictures. And to describe condition as with "normal wear," that tells me nothing!)
For more details on condition of pockets, and space, please see photos. They are part of the description.

They haven't responded back after a full day. I'm going to take it as precaution for now and move onto something else. Thank you for your time!

While we're checking our "LIST", please read the post on top of every page that says IMPORTANT - READ ME" AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.

No authentications will be posted unless the Rules are followed.

I have been informed by someone whose opinion I respect very much that a bag I've had posted for sometime on PM and Merc is not real. I keep looking at it like a crazy person and it must be something that I am just uneducated about.

It's a first time purchase for me in this style and I should have had it check here first before listing it. Anyway here it is, if any of you can tell me what it is that I overlooked I'd really appreciate it.

Whoever warned you it was fake is correct. There are several problems with it. That's a highly faked style and should always be authenticated before buying or selling. It requires a comprehensive photo library to spot the mistakes by comparing them to a genuine example but they're definitely there.

Anyone who depends on their own observations, especially in vintage Coach bags, without having a photo library of both genuine and fake examples probably has a closet or store loaded with fakes. The same warning holds for anyone who depends on 99 percent of the "authenticity guides" on the internet.
