  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

ProVintageGear on Etsy has a long history of not verifying authenticity. I don't think he purposely sells fakes but he thinks he is more expert than he is and has listed and sold lots of them.

Sorry. I didn't comment on the bag you asked about.

It's authentic. I was just pointing out that there's a history.

There was a time that the seller joined her (after having been posted) and he stayed for a short time, seeming to make an effort to do things right. But he didn't stay long.

Oh, thank you!

And thank you for letting me know about the seller. I hate to buy from people who don't do proper research like that. I'll let my husband know and he can decide. He wouldn't want to support that either, I'm sure.
Shame he didn't stick with it on here. He would have a much better reputation if he did. I sure wouldn't be as reluctant as I am to buy from him if he did.

I'll fall back on one of my classic suggestions on what to do with a fake. If you have any young girls in the family, just write "FAKE" across the creed or serial number with a Sharpie and give it to them to use when they play Dress Up. You can always tie a knot in the strap if it's too long. (Am I really dating myself here? Do little girls still play Dress Up?)

Thank you for the suggestions Hyacinth. Hopefully it will be helpful to tpf ers but last time my daughter played dress up was over 25 years ago. She plays for real now and "borrows" from my (authenticated by dear authenticators here at tpf) collection. Lol! Btw, since covid, I have noticed more youngsters playing outside than before.

MORE kids playing outside? That surprises me. Unless the parents are going so completely bonkers by being trapped inside with them trying to home school them and keep them busy that they just open the back door, point, and yell "OUT!! NOW!!" Good thing I never had kids or I'd probably be tempted to do exactly the same thing. :biggrin:

In the future, for online purchases including ended listings, post a link to the listing and seller ID.
