Item: Equestrian? I thought I saw that name for this 9807 a few years ago, not sure.
Where purchased or how obtained: thrift store
Comments: Dimensions are 7" height, 9" width, 3" depth. The "No." in the creed has me concerned.

L was a valid US plant but not with that font and spacing, and probably not in 1998. The latest L US creeds I have in my files have a prefix of C7L. The "No." is wrong for a US plant. The 'o' should be much smaller and the underline should be not much more than a dot. The most obvious mistake is the creed wording. In 1998, that creed wording had long been abandoned. It should have the newer creed wording, with the place of manufacture in the body of the creed, not at the bottom.

ETA: Also, the zipper pull isn't sewn around on all sides.
You've got a bag with a 1998 year code and a creed format and wording "scars, scratches..." that was officially discontinued starting in 1994 and completely gone by 1996. The hangtag is fake too, and the top zipper pull is incompletely stitched. The size of the L in the serial is wrong, and L had stopped being a valid USA plant code about 1 year before the year 1998 indicated in the fake serial. Any and all L codes with US creeds more recent than 1997 are fakes.

ETA - CORRECTED BASED ON WHATEVE"S POST & PHOTO ABOVE.
Thank you both! I was able to file a counterfeit claim with Poshmark and they accepted thanks to your information. I sent it back yesterday!

Authentic equestrian large flap. You can only compare creeds from the same plant and same timeframe.

Thank you so much whateve for taking the time to authenticate this handbag for me! Also, for the name and the creed information!!! You and the other authenticators are so generous sharing your knowledge. I appreciate it!

Any idea of it’s worth?
We can't comment on that. In the current condition, with the stains, it wouldn't be worth as much as one in excellent condition. You can search ebay sold listings for similar vintage styles to get an idea of what similar bags have sold for. I didn't find any recent listings of the same style when I looked, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Many sellers don't put the style name or number in their listing as they don't know it.

Any thoughts on how to clean it?

And thank you!

Any thoughts on how to clean it?
You can lots of help in our rehab club. This type of bag responds really well to a complete rehab, which includes a bath in soapy water, and lots of conditioning with leather conditioners.
