Hello,

Can you please authenticate and provide any info on this bag please? I’ve never seen it before so don’t know the name or anything really.

Item: Vintage 70s Coach Red Leather New York City Small Turnlock Flap Swing Purse/Crossbody/Handbag ~ Original Coach Hang Tag ~ Fair Condition
Seller: PursnicketyBoutique
Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/869960...how_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details
It's authentic but I don't know the style name.

Use caution with PursnicketyBoutique because items' authenticity isn't verified before listing and her years (on some items) are wrong. Non-vintage Coach bags are listed as "before 2000."

It's a mini pouch.

You've asked about this bag several times in the last 2 months, and we STILL don't have an answer.

We can't prove it's authentic because we can't find any others with that style number to compare it to. I can't even find an example on Google with the same style number and photos. We can't estimate a value for the same reason and because the site rules here don't allow us to value bags.

We can't suggest where to sell it, again, because we can't authenticate it and will NOT recommend that it be sold unless we know it's genuine. It may be a genuine limited edition but how do we verify that? (I can see a limited edition number that looks like "6 out of 35" or maybe "65" but that doesn't prove it's authentic. The only references are one blog that mentions the Regent Street store, and an old advert from Selfridge's with no photos or information. The blog only shows one photo and it's black with different patches. If you're posting from the UK which I'm assuming you are, we also need to know that. Our authenticators all reside in the US and aren't familiar with limited edition UK items.

If you're hoping to sell it on THIS website, that is absolutely NOT ALLOWED. And no one here will buy an expensive bag without identification or authentication.

Maybe someone here will see your post and can refer you to a site in the UK that specialises in Coach. Or if you live near London, maybe you can research the boutique mentioned in the blog and they can give you more information.

Thank you so much for answer
Actually I’m not from UK , im from Saudi Arabia, and as I said it was a gift, also I broke up with that person so I can’t ask him from where he get it for me but he travels a lot to UK so maybe , that's why I don't have much information about it.

At first, I asked in Reddit then they give me this link, I'm trying to figure out the price and everything so I will not scam anyone want her.
But now all my concern is knowing if it's real or fake

i hope if anyone know anything can help me .
Thank you again

I've been poking around for several days trying to figure out whether your bag is authentic and if there's anything to prove it as such.

Unfortunately, the best I can do without any bags of the same style, color and pattern is to say that I believe your bag is NOT authentic. (Do you have any idea where the person who gave you this gift got it?)

Although there weren't any other identical bags, I found two that seem to be the closest matches of what I think your bag is trying to copy and if either is the same style, the differences make me believe yours is fake.

First comp is from a picture I believe was photographed in a Coach store. It showed 3 bags. My comparison is to the red one, cropped from the rest of the image.

Differences:
Upper left corner - Cat (?) head is considerably smaller on your bag than on the red one
Lower left corner - "41" is leaning to the left on your bag, to the right on the red one
Center - Bus is different

Another comparison -- Your bag on left, comp on right and again, the differences are obvious:

U really think it’s fake ?
No actually I don’t know where he got it , and I’m not talk to him anymore .
U right I can see the difference now :(

Thank you so much for help

I don't know for sure but I'm not comfortable with what I'm seeing.

The problem (and fact) is that as a seller, the law and rules on websites require that a seller must know items are authentic before listing and selling. And since there's no way to prove authenticity, I wouldn't advise selling it.

Just to add, the Mini Pouch was made in 1986, so it's not a 1970s bag. It's in the Summer 1986 catalog as "new" and it's already gone by Holiday 1986 and Early Spring 1987, so we know it's not older than that. It may be one of the easiest vintage bags to accurately date. Like BeenBurned already mentioned, seller PursnicketyBoutique got the date wrong on this one too.

I think Coach just had too many small bags available, and strong sellers like the Dinky and Compact Pouch probably won out over the competition. That was shortly after Sara Lee bought the company so I'm sure their corporate bean counters were looking closely at the bottom line. Non-performers were axed pretty quickly.

Hi there!
Do you think this bag is authentic?
I have never seen a stamp besides the creed or the outlet stamps near the creed. You can see it to the left of the creed. Part of it says "regular"
Not sure what style this is but I also can ask that in the ID this coach thread!

So much history! I appreciate you taking the time to educate.

Do you have a picture of the compact pouch? Is it the square looking bag?
