I'm SURE it's a Coach originally meant to be part of the USOC items but then removed and reclassified. Notice that it's a few months more recent too. Coach may have looked at the sale numbers and said "Nope, don't need any more Olympic items".

ETA - Note that the creed wording in your bag is almost the same description as the Olympic items, minus any Olympic references and very slightly changed to describe the leather. They probably had to make a special creed for it but they used the same serial stamp as the other fully branded Olympic items. I MAY have seen another similar item years ago but I don't know if I ever saved it. I'll look through a few more files ASAP.

JMO but serial fonts tell their own stories.

I'm in the middle of cooking so I may be posting more than once as I go through my files.

The style number is smack dab in the middle of most of the Travel items from the 1996 official US Olympics items. And the fonts in the serial numbers are identical to the USOC items but without any Olympic branding. I'm wondering if this was repurposed from the Olympics line to the regular Coach items? Maybe the Olympic items weren't selling well? They're not terribly popular now either. The color mixes are the same, various color leather trim with black ballistic nylon bodies.

Excellent! Thank you.

I thought it was too good to be fake but the variations had me curious.

TBH, I'm surprised that Olympics items aren't snatched up by collectors.

It's authentic. You can't use the creed number to identify a bag when the serial number is all numerals. Before 1994, Coach bags had unique serial numbers that had nothing to do with the style of the bag. This appears to be a camera bag #9760 made in the mid 1980s. There are often similar looking bags so we need measurements to be sure of the style.
Thank you so much for the quick response. Sorry I forgot the measurements. It's approx 10x7x3. Yes. I was looking at other camera bags bc of the way the top is curved but I wasn't sure. The leather feels heavy duty like my 9170 so I had a feeling it's an oldie but goodie. Great info on the number system. I appreciate it. ☺️ ps. This place is amazing! I love it. Thanks again!

You're welcome! That matches the measurements of 9760 camera bag.
