It's genuine, probably a Small Shoulder Bag style 9530. Exact dates are almost impossible to pin down, but I'd guess it's from the late 1970s to early 1980s. Nice color too!

From a 1983 catalog:

I would hazard a guess that it is from 1976. That jives with our belief that creed numbers were used starting in the mid 70s, so maybe that started in 1977, now that we have "proof" of a 1976 bag without a number.

I'd love to see the inside of that catalog when you get a chance. There might be some styles I don't have in my files.

Thank you Hyacinth and whateve for your replies! I am looking forward to getting this bag.
@whateve - if you were referring to the little catalog that is supposed to come with my bag, I would be happy to share the contents when I get it. I can either DM you or post in the Vintage thread in case there are other people who would be interested...
Have a good evening!

If you can give me a day or two I'll put up some thumbnails, maybe in the Coach FAQs subforum of the Coach Reference Library in the main forum would be a good place for it? Or would I be violating Coach's copyrights?

I'll let you know when they're ready. I need to reboot and clear up some memory before I try to copy anything that sucks up as much memory as one of those catalogs. Except maybe the site that rhymes with Boo Scoob which right now is immersing me in the music of my youth. Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, The Beatles and a few others are soothing my tired soul.

RIP, Justice Ruth. You were a light in dark times.

NUTS! Sorry about that!
I can't authenticate the one from seller jflues, I don't know anything about newer styles. There's no style or serial number that I can see either unless it's in one of the inside pockets. I wouldn't recommend buying it without that information.
