Hello Authenticators,
So grateful for what you all do! I've been recently bitten by the Vintage Coach bug and after searching high and low for a BT or Mahogany Patricia, I found this and have already made an offer that was accepted. Hoping to authenticate if possible before it ships, but if I need to send more photos once I get her during the return window, I could do that too. I've only ever had one purse authenticated on here and that was many years ago (in fact so long ago, I could not remember any of my login info and have made a new account since), so hopefully I'm doing this right.

For your consideration:

If you paid, DEMAND a refund from jablake4 and if necessary, direct her here.

The bag is fake.

ETA: I'm pretty sure this bag from the same seller is fake too:

Good afternoon! Could you authenticate this basic bag for me if you please. What is the color? She calls it Saddle. I'm not sure of the wrist strap. I got burned on the last bag with a replacement wrist strap. Thanks kindly!

Basic Bag
Seller on ebay: 1boedecker

It's fine and looks like a basic bag. The zipper pull (that you're calling a wrist strap) appears to be original.

Okay, thank you! Just submitted a message to the seller for a refund, so hopefully they will respond soon and before shipping it! Thank you so much!

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right? I bought my 1st coach bag & am wanting to find out if it's real. I'm old & don't know how to use anything online, so I'm in tears because apparently I posted this in the wrong place the first time. I dont know how to use ANY of these sites. I found this site on google. Can someone help me please?

If the item is/was listed somewhere and if the listing has pictures, it's not necessary to repost them here.

But if not listed, I'd like to see a picture of the full front of the bag, possibly with the handles upright.

So far, there are no red flags.
You should post more pictures of the bag in your possession as the pictures in the listing are just stock photos.
Seller shus491

It's not necessary to worry about removing wrapping if an item is fake. If fake, the seller violated ebay policy and in a SNAD (not as described) case, you would win the case in a dispute. And since opening the item and removing wrapping and packaging are necessary to verify authenticity, that's what you have to do.

Had you come here prior to purchasing the bag, I probably would have recommending that you choose another seller. Most of shus491's listings show stock images and those that aren't stolen stock pictures are pictures taken at a Coach outlet store. With highly faked items, we want to see the seller's own pictures of the actual items so you'll know what to expect.

I believe the pictures you've shown are of an authentic bag.

The second bag is definitely fake, major problems with the font and the magnetic snap

Comment: have you guys ever seen a serial number like this before? I'm baffled! I have never seen this before!
Definitely a problem!!! I see our trusty "authenticator" "friend" is already on the job.
Thank you. Why do I even bother posting.. I should know better from last AT check he followed from my link here and etc. etc..

So why the heck does it say in the Comments
"v************ and 3 others like this "? (Asterisks mine, use your imaginations)

And why in dog's name does he need to know if the buckle says Solid brass after seeing the creed and serial number?

"I should know better from last AT check he followed from my link here and etc. etc.."

Of course he follows people. He looks for great deals that members brag about, he copies information we post about how we authenticate because, as he complained at the Ebay forum, he doesn't want to do his own research and feels that the other "VERY Deceiving!" Ebay authenticators should share all their information with him-

"Good afternoon. I would just like to say that this ebay Community Site has offered me COUNTLESS authentication References in the past and I have been MORE Than Delighted, Happy and Appreciative of the knowledge That these EXPERTS on this site have done for the Vintage Coach 'World'. I just wish these People that are supposed to be here to HELP you would freely share their Knowledge. I believe NOT to do so is VERY Deceiving!"
(this from someone who has recently made his main Facebook page Private so no one else, especially tPF members who he's specifially stated are NOT WELCOME, can see what they're talking about.)

ETA -and until very recently at least one of his previously devoted forum minions has settled into the Vintage Chat thread after saying what a nasty site tPF was and after promising TWICE that she was never coming back. Now "things are different". Maybe she's seen the reality behind the mask, I don't know, but for her sake I hope so. Time will tell. As always, I reserve my right to be a cynic, it's an age thing.

Always assume that you're being watched. And always keep great deals to yourself until the item is actually in your hands, regardless of which thread here you posted to. A word to the Wise.

I clearly do not know how to navigate here. Sorry for the lack of tech!
I don't know to continue the conversation on the same post.
I was interested to know the color of this bag and possible age?
Thanks so much for your help!

To reply or refer to a previous post, just use the REPLY button.

Guessing colors, especially tan ro brown shades, before the bag as been washed and conditioned is essentially useless, colors change over the years and washing and conditioning can change them too. The seller says it's Saddle and she's probably right. From the serial number I'd guess it was made in the middle to later 1970s.
