Hi all, I'm interested in purchasing the Chadwick, but I can't find more information on the style in question. Appreciate your thoughts on whether this is genuine. Thank you!

Seller ThoroughlyModernMona
Or am I imagining things?
You are seeing an R month and it's not the first time it's been seen on fakes.

I haven't had much luck in getting sellers to end listings when told that items aren't authentic. Maybe ThoroughlyModernMona might be different.

Me again with another ...hoping you all know how much you’re appreciated , especially with my multiple requests today!

Item: Vintage Coach 9966 Legacy Zip
Seller: MarilynsTreasureHunt
Site: Etsy
Item #: none

Thanks!
It's authentic but not even close to being vintage. It was made in 2011 so it won't be 20 years old until 2031.

ETA: Etsy stinks at enforcing the "vintage" requirement!

:oh: So are those leathers not the same quality, desirability as actual Vintage pieces?

-dyedNot even close. Coach hasn't used the original top grain, aniline-dyed vintage leathers across their lines since approximately 2000, with a few exceptions. The processing is different, the quality and construction is different. Vintage leathers weren't "constructed", they were full-grain leather through and through, top to bottom. Current leathers and most Coach leathers going back to around 2000 with a few exceptions, can legally be more fillers and plastic than actual leather, and many of them are. That's why they don't rehab like true vintage leathers, there's very little actual leather to rehab.

There's a fascinating, complicated, exhaustively researched and very long analysis of classic vs. current Coach leathers that was linked to here at tPF months ago but for anyone really interested in some ugly facts about the brand it's required reading. I STRONGLY recommend reading it to any serious Coach buyer and lover of vintage bags, and that it be saved and re-read as needed. For many of us who have time on our hands right now it may be the most illuminating Coach read you'll ever experience:

The Coach Screed
https://secure40.securewebsession.com/archetype.site.aplus.net/52125/5201925/TheCoachScreed.htm

If this wasn't one of the recent readings you did about Coach leathers, please add it to your reading list.

There's only one correction I would make, and that is that a few fakes of Coach classic and vintage bags ARE made of the same top-grain leather Coach used back then, so examining the leather structure with a loupe doesn't always tell you if a bag is actually a Coach product or not. You'll understand the reference if and whan you read the Screed. I know because I own a fake that breaks that "rule".
