IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

I am so sorry they stuck it to you.

If you paid with a credit card, file a dispute. POSHMARK IS WRONG!! And this is why I don't recommend Poshmark and will not authenticate items listed there even if the seller is an honest one! There are just too many dishonest sellers and an inept site and inept "experts" don't help.

Please feel free to send this post to TPTB at Poshmark.
Hey BeenBurned - did something from the photos in the listing look blazingly obvious that it was a fake? I was going to take photos when I received and post them here for a final word... and then dispute if you said it was fake.

You also didn't include the seller's ID: Kate - ladymiyao

I'd never trust Poshmark to authenticate items, especially a style as highly faked and well faked as Rogues and other 1941 collection bags, Disney items, NASA items and even vintage and classic styles. (I"ve gone into depth about my feelings toward PM and generally, I don't even comment on listings from that site so I'll stop here.)

But I'll try to help you.

First, the pictures shown in the listing aren't adequate for authentication purposes.

If you have the bag in your possession, please take pictures of the following:
  • both sides of the made in tag from inside the bag,
  • picture of a white label with 2 rows of letter/numbers. The white tag is hidden somewhere in the bag, maybe in a side seam or possibly deep inside a pocket that you may have to turn inside out to find and photograph.
  • photo of the price tag showing the style, UPC and color info. (It's not legible in the listing.)
If more pictures are needed, they'll be requested.

It had been a while since you posted so I went back to look at the original request and the listing.

The pictures I'd requested were never received and posted so no, there was nothing in the listing as posted that showed it to be fake but there was nothing in the listing that proved it authentic. And if Poshmark authenticated that bag, I'd be interested in knowing how!

Based on the mistakes I've seen Poshmark make on both obvious fakes that they deemed as genuine and on 100% authentic items that they deemed as fake, I doubt they know what to look for to verify authenticity of such a highly faked and "well-faked" collection.

If you haven't received the bag yet and if PM or the seller refuses to send the pics that were requested, I guess you'll have to take delivery of the bag.

Personally, for that kind of money, I can't recommend Poshmark.

I apologize for my error. I should have gone back to the original posts to see whether the necessary pictures were ever posted.

Sellers, buyers and Poshmark need to understand and recognize that NOTHING can be authenticated unless the necessary pictures are shown.

no worries - dont apolgoize - I think my only course of action is to wait until I get the bag, and post here - I paid with my CC so I can dispute it.

In the future, please try to include larger photos, or thumbnails that can be enlarged, of the creed stamps and serial numbers. Those items include information that's critical to authenticating and we need to see the details clearly. The darker brown one is very hard to read. If good pictures are already included in the auction listing, most of the time there's no need to re-post unless you want to point out specific areas, which you did in this case.

I'm not sure what you mean by the O-rings being open? By "open" do you mean not soldered closed? If they were permanently closed, how would you replace the strap or clean the O-rings? O-rings on vintage bags with "permanent" straps are designed to be pried open. Don't try to apply the same (non-existant) Rules to vintage bags as to newer styles. And most of those so-called Rules you find on the internet about newer styles are just as inaccurate, read my Signature under every one of my posts.

I'm not at all happy with the darker brown one. If you had asked for authentication before buying we would have advised you not to bid, there just aren't any photos in the listing that do anything to show the bag is authentic. Listings for items that should have a creed patch and serial number should always include photos of those details or you simply should not bid on them, there are too many fake Coaches out there.

I'm concerned with what I can see of the creed and serial number - a better and slightly larger photo would help, photographed as flat as you can make it - and also a few small details like the shape of the o-ring and the poorly stamped hangtag. Neither of those are quite what they should be but I can only compare them to another bag of the same style from the same plant and I can't find any. The tan bag is from another plant and sometimes there might be small differences between plants.

OTHER OPINIONS ARE WELCOME.

ETA -
and other opinions are posted. Excellent, I'm glad I wasn't being too paranoid. I was just going to point out the big difference in the number and size of the stitches on the two leather strap "keepers" by each buckle but now I guess I don't have to. Thanks, BB!

Thank you very much for your information and for your time! I haven't posted to a forum in probably a decade and went with the smaller res pics--I guess the internets can handle large files now!

I wish I had known about you all before I made my purchase. Next time, I will know what to do. It is suspicious that this seller has good reviews and no pics of inside of any of the bags.

In a case like this, does one write to the seller and assume they didn't know it was fake? First time being burned online, not bad!

Here is a larger res pic of the creed in case anyone would like to see.

I am so happy the tan one is real. I love it.

Also, as a person in their late 30s, I am almost embarrassed I never thought of removing hardware for cleaning. Thank you!

Indeed! "Layover in Rome today. Owner carelessly chucked lipstick into me. Got it all over my precious suede. Patiently waited while owner fluttered her lashes on this guy Giacomo in that dimly-lit bar. Almost got Chianti spilled all over me, but owner was still alert enough to prevent it. Currently hanging out in Giacomo's dark hallway. Super looking forward to Athens tomorrow! "

I most definitely don't speak from experience here.

Me neither. But I can just imagine the Stewardess Bag snuggling into one of the lovely leather seats of Giocomo's vintage Ferrari and thinking "Mmmmm, I'm going to like it here".

I definitely don't think you should eat the loss on the fake bag you bought from Seller CitrusAndSageStudio.

I don't know Etsy's policy in cases of disputes, but as a seller (on other sites myself), I would prefer buyers let me know there's a possible problem before they open a dispute. That way, it gives the seller the opportunity to do the right thing without having a dispute hanging over her head.

If she's not willing to take the item back and make you whole, at that point, you can go through Etsy to open a dispute or open a Paypal dispute. As a last resort, you can file a dispute with your credit card company.

if the seller doesn't believe she sold a fake, you can refer her here.

The fact is that by law (and etsy policy), she should have verified authenticity before listing and selling the bag.

Again, do not just accept this loss!
