Hello Experts,
I have recently purchased my first two Coach bags and I believe one or both may be fakes (I do really hope the tan one is authentic because it is very nice). Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have done hours of research and one thing I learned is that the O rings should not be open; these are both open and also the hardware is not the same on both bags.

The brown leather is stiff and warped while the tan is soft. Brown tag looks very questionable after what I have seen and I am also unable to locate L5B in that style #

Key tags on brown are split and tan is double sided.

Both are same dimensions except for the thin straps which are longer (maybe stretched) on the brown. Tan seems unused.

I hope I did this properly. Thank you.

There is also this strap situation where the brown tapers to a weird shape and the stitching is pretty bad.

Welcome. You did a nice job for your first post. But you missed the seller IDs.

Your suspicion about the brown bag is correct. Seller CitrusAndSageStudio
sold a fake.

The bag from Beachbumresale is authentic.

In the future, please try to include larger photos, or thumbnails that can be enlarged, of the creed stamps and serial numbers. Those items include information that's critical to authenticating and we need to see the details clearly. The darker brown one is very hard to read. If good pictures are already included in the auction listing, most of the time there's no need to re-post unless you want to point out specific areas, which you did in this case.

I'm not sure what you mean by the O-rings being open? By "open" do you mean not soldered closed? If they were permanently closed, how would you replace the strap or clean the O-rings? O-rings on vintage bags with "permanent" straps are designed to be pried open. Don't try to apply the same (non-existant) Rules to vintage bags as to newer styles. And most of those so-called Rules you find on the internet about newer styles are just as inaccurate, read my Signature under every one of my posts.

I'm not at all happy with the darker brown one. If you had asked for authentication before buying we would have advised you not to bid, there just aren't any photos in the listing that do anything to show the bag is authentic. Listings for items that should have a creed patch and serial number should always include photos of those details or you simply should not bid on them, there are too many fake Coaches out there.

I'm concerned with what I can see of the creed and serial number - a better and slightly larger photo would help, photographed as flat as you can make it - and also a few small details like the shape of the o-ring and the poorly stamped hangtag. Neither of those are quite what they should be but I can only compare them to another bag of the same style from the same plant and I can't find any. The tan bag is from another plant and sometimes there might be small differences between plants.

OTHER OPINIONS ARE WELCOME.

and other opinions are posted. Excellent, I'm glad I wasn't being too paranoid. I was just going to point out the big difference in the number and size of the stitches on the two leather strap "keepers" by each buckle but now I guess I don't have to. Thanks, BB!

For the record, here's a comparison of the creed from your fake from CitrusAndSageStudio vs the creed from an authentic bag made in the same month/year/plant:
