Are those dark spots mold, do you think?

Wait for Whateve to look at it but mildew is possible too. Personally I wouldn't buy anything from that seller, they hjave a long history of not disclosing serious problems with their items. Search for their name through all the Coach forums here. Look for both "station 85" and "station85". Also check their Neutral and Negative record at Toolhaus.org:
http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=station_85&Dirn=Received+by&ref=home

Please remember to check both places for a seller's history before deciding to buy anything.

There's no clear creed photo either, and the inside zipper is very wavy and makes me think that bag has other problems too. I do NOT recommend " station_85 " especially since the bag can't be authenticated without a creed photo.

Yikes. I did search for that seller before I posted in this forum but nothing came up - could be the dash threw it off. Deleting from the watch list! Thanks!

#3 says Coach Letaherware USA with all numbers. If this is authentic, what style would it be? 10 tall x 12 wide along the top x 4 1/2 deep:

Lastly is is this crossbody "made in Turkey C8I-5130". 9.5 tall x 8.75 wide x 2 deep:

Many thanks for your time and effort & have a wonderful day! :)

Both genuine, the top one really needs to be stuffed to show the actual shape of the bag. It might be an early 90s Monterey Hobo #4027. The second is a Station Bag.

Hi everyone and happy spring!

These are my finds over the last couple of months.

The creed on this backpack has a very shallow stamping. It says made in the United States, but can't make out any numbers (if any). Measurements are about 9" tall x 7 wide x 5 deep. I have real doubts that it is authentic, but if it is what is the style name?:

The second one also says made in the USA, just checking on that "H" where I thought the first three letters of the alphabet would be. This one is a little harder to measure with the rounded bottom.. plus or minus 12" tall x 9 wide x 5 deep. I really hope this one is good. love the color!:

I can't tell if the first one's authentic or what it is. Wait for more opinions. The second one is a Soho Back Sac.

The tPF forum software doesn't recognise any non-letter or non-number characters, so you have to use just the letters and numbers in the name when you Search here. That's why when we talk about a problem seller, we'll post their names in two or even three different formats so the forum search engine can find it, like the examples I gave in my previous post, "station 85" or "station85". There are posts here under both forms of the name. And the Toolhaus recond goes back to 2010 if you wait for the whole page to load completely.

I'm not sure what differences you're seeing either. The patch colors are different because the bags are different colors but both are stamped in gold although the white bag's gold may possibly be rubbing off a bit.

When making comparisons, you need to compare apples to apples. Some styles have creeds with script text and others have non-scripts. Some have creeds with gold and others have just imprinted into the leather. You can't compare the details on a bag with printed text to a different style of bag with a different creed.

There were two bags that were the same (taupe bag to a taupe bag with the same style number).

The question was part authenticity part information: Why would one bag have such a different looking creed over the rest of the bags with that style number. All the bags from the search had stamped creeds; all different colors.

I can't tell for sure on the first one. If authentic, it would be #9960, a small daypack. It doesn't seem likely the number would disappear. Counterfeiters usually screw up on the shape and stitching of the ends of the drawstring and the stitching around the keeper for the strings. I can see yours has the stitching around the keeper. I'm not sure about the ends of the drawstring, as they are curled. You should compare it to other 9960s to see if you see any differences. I assume the back of the turnlock doesn't have any grooves?

I think those are grooves and will have to start avoiding those! :(

Hope that helps some.. I can get a couple more if need be. Thanks So Much!! :smile1:

Ok, it's what I thought, a Monterey Hobo. Notice the shape when it's stuffed, how it's almost square at the base but then narrows and widens out at the top if that makes any sense. Any time a bag or other item has any distinctive shape or details, it helps to see those.

Remember, when we're trying to ID a bag we might only have one or two catalog or website pictures from Coach to compare it to, and the more you can make it look like it does in those pictures (upright, and straight on or turned between 30 and 45 degrees, and stuffed to show the actual shape) the easier it is for us to find it in our files.

Compare it to Coach's catalog picture below to see the difference
