Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

Just out of sheer curiousity, how badly does this scream fake? Or is there truly a style number is 2005 like that?

Of course I'm no authenticator but I think you have to get your ears checked lol....you are finding a lot of authentic bags screaming fake.
I for one am really glad you found this forum cuz you would be in trouble without these gals!

And that is one of the reasons you shouldn't tell a seller she has listed a fake. She knows your ebay ID now. She might do some research and figure out who you are. If you ever sell anything, she might decide to buy it just so she can give you negative feedback. You can't tell beforehand whether a person will be nice or vindictive.

One concern is how small the 'o' is in the No. And maybe a second concern with the spacing on the serial # but you ladies authenticated a bag I bought where the spacing was a little off... It had the exact same wording in the creed.

Maybe it would be better if you just asked for authentication without providing an opinion. Someone could look at your requests casually and come to the wrong conclusion. We don't take lightly accusing a seller of listing a fake. Unless we are absolutely sure, we don't want to hurt someone's reputation. Please don't report any listing without getting confirmation, until you've learned quite a bit more.

Well, there are bags that are so fake I don't truly need to get confirmation. There is a certain lining that comes up constantly on fake bags and the 'I' in the first part of the serial #. I saw one that was 'W###-####" that's not fake, really? The girl bought it at a flea market. I see the hall of shame and a lot of the bags there, I've already stumbled across;

I'm not worried about someone getting my information. Why? Because when I buy something on eBay my name, address, phone number are all right there.

And as far as selling on eBay, I will NEVER, waste my time again selling on eBay. I did it years ago and after a substantial loss I will never do it again, for any reason.

According to the salearea guide, a bag shouldn't have just two digits on the left hand side. They have at least three digits (letter number number). So, this would be a fake bag ?

Did you check the Fake Numbers List here and at Ebay?

Please save the links and refer to them - when the number is listed in the ALWAYS FAKE section, it's fake.

Many 2005 styles have style numbers like that. SALEAREA GUIDES.

"The style number itself has also changed constantly over the years. In 2005 Coach was running out of numbers between 001 and 9999, so they experimented with using a mix of letters and numbers, such as 8F41 for a Scribble Brights Pocket Zip (which also had a style number of 2166 - see the “inconsistency” comment above), and by using up previously unused numbers including some of the 3-digit numbers already mentioned."
