Seller here, again. And I graciously cancelled your purchase without any fuss, even though I do not agree that the ONE item was fake.
I don’t sell as much as I used to now that I have a day job, but I have been a reputable seller of used and vintage Coach for over a decade on eBay and Etsy. Avoid me if you want but I would never intentionally mislead someone. Thanks!!
Hello, I do appreciate your quick cancellation without any fuss. I was at work so just did some brief reading of this thread, added a few quick posting. Now I am home and read every thing I missed. I apologize if I offended you. I am convinced the Flateron Sling is a fake bag, but I also believe you genuinely thought it was authentic. Some other TPF members are also eBay sellers, too, from what they mentioned I understand selling on eBay can be frustrating, so does buying. To avoid hassel ,maybe in future if a Coach bag you are not100 percent certain, just have it authenticated here prior to list it. The wonderful Authenticators here are always willing to help everyone. Best wishes.

@betseyluxe If I may add a bit, I'd like to say that no one has accused you of knowingly listing fakes but in fact, that bag is definitely fake. We're all human and have made mistakes. Hopefully, we've also learned from our mistakes.

My other comment is a suggestion that I've made countless times over the years. WHile you may not be aware of the number and quality of fakes, there have been many "close" ones made and unless one is expert in the construction details, creeds, plants and the specific fonts used by those plants, years of manufacture, etc., and unless you PERSONALLY purchased an item directly from Coach (or whatever manufacturer) or an authorized department store partner, its in your best interest both for your reputation and for that of your account to verify authenticity BEFORE listing.

I think I can speak for all of the Coach authenticators that we're more than willing to help a seller stay honest and help those who are willing to protect their buyers from mistakes.

Item: Coach bag small red round Body (Italy, 1998, 4187, Lexington)
Listing number: m12470590097
Seller: sandman
Link: https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m12470590097/

Comments: It appears that I am avoiding "stress eating" during this quarantine by indulging in "stress buying" - and I'd better knock it off soon! But when I see a cute, vintage, red, Italian coach bag for $21 shipped how could I resist? Of course I didn't resist!

I believe that this bag is from the Lexington line and I see that it is missing the hangtag, do you know the name of this bag? The style number is 4187. I have seen a few brown ones listed online that were made in the Dominican Republic but this red one says Italy.

Here is a picture of the creed and there are more photos at the link above. Please give an opinion about authenticity. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

It's authentic. It was called Lexington satchel. I rehabbed two of these, both made in the Dominican Republic. One was red.
